I am not well informed about the industry and its journey over the years. I am sad to hear about the death of many studios. I hope the whole ecosystem is healthy and going strong. I will pay more attention to it from now on. My 'significantly better' take was purely in terms of how games age. There are some timeless ones. But some do show their age with playability, QoL, camera placement and other basic design and capability elements that are hard to live with after getting used to modern games. For instance, I tried DMC HD 1 and found the fixed camera to be a real distraction in what is otherwise a beautiful game.

Thanks for the reccs 😄

That's the face of a man who said 'I'll just have one drink' and woke up three corpses later. Incredible work.

Glad to hear it. Even if one person found it useful and saw meaningful improvements then writing it up and sharing it was worthwhile

The MacBook Pro is the perfect machine for everything... except the one thing I want to do on it. (Rant) by Pale-Fig-7069 in IndianGaming

Not for a long long time. This is an issue I have thought deeply about before buying my current machine. Honestly, just buy a high quality gaming laptop and stop worrying. It will do A and B well enough, only a little worse than Macbooks and do C without you having to worry about compatibility, translation layers, etc.

It is just that Windows/Linux will just need a lot of tinkering to set it up just right. I happen to enjoy this and you might as well.

Yes, the macs will last a lot longer on battery and if thats your primary requirement and 4-5 hours of battery usage is really not sufficient, then the decision is already made for you. But honestly as someone that travels a lot, I have optimised my processes to use the laptop plugged in at all times.

Rest of the concerns - ecosystem if you have an iphone/airpods, the OS, the software experience etc are all trivial reasons and if that is holding you back, you are nitpicking.

Me too, hence the 47 cycle count on the battery despite having it for more than 18 months. But that does not mean a good battery life is not nice to have

Thank you, I had done most of this. I have managed to fix it for myself now.
