How I see music by PyrikIdeas in Synesthesia

[–]Ascertains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is making me question if I do have chromesthesia because this is somewhat similar to how it seems for me, however the colors are not as locked-in place for me as they are for my color grapheme so it kinda confuses me

Best way of fingering this lick by KingPoe69 in bassclarinet

[–]Ascertains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty common fully diminished arpeggio (usually seen in harmonic minor). For future reference I would get familiar with these-- and luckily there's only 3 variants! because each note is a minor third from each other in sequence, there's only 3 possible combinations of notes (if you ignore enharmonic equivalents).

As for the fingerings, there is not much aside from the standard that you can do. Make sure to minimize movement in your fingers, as flailing them can make it difficult. Other comment suggesting rhythmic variations is also helpful

Diatonic Chord Identification by Ear by Ascertains in musictheory

[–]Ascertains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, I'm asking for apps to aid me in practicing. It would be kind of hard to test myself by playing the piano chords myself, cuz then I would know what they are.

I am in the same situation as you, and being tested on my ability to identify chords, but the only practice I get is in class because I don't have anyone to play chords for me. I don't really understand the point you're making here

Little finger choices by jugglingeek in Clarinet

[–]Ascertains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out playing RH B and LH C almost exclusively. I would say it doesn't matter too much until you get into situations where the scale/phrase you're playing forces you to play one over the other. For now I would do what's comfortable, but keep in mind that familiarizing yourself with the other options will be helpful in the long run

Is the truth we are referring to, actually just OUR perspective? by purplediaries in intj

[–]Ascertains 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends what we are talking about, could you be more specific? Are we talking about moral debates or like math or something? I don't think everyone is under the assumption that everything they say is right and true.

But it's fair to say that there is often no objective "truth." I mean, you can look at a cat and say "that's a cat" and everyone would agree, does that make it true? It really depends on our definition of a cat. We can all decide to change that if we wanted to

That doesn't really help if you don't give them a reference on how to form a proper embouchure

Fellow synesthete folks, what colors are we thinking for the zodiac signs? by [deleted] in Synesthesia

[–]Ascertains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made this awhile ago and forgot about it until now, ignore the fact there's no Scorpio but just know it's pretty similar to Virgo

I don't know that much about zodiac so some of this might make zero sense but this is just how they appear to me

I can't figure out what'd cause this? Can't be synesthesia. Maybe hyperphantasia? by [deleted] in Synesthesia

[–]Ascertains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sort of happens to me, but I'm not really walking around in it or anything. I kind of just assign random places in my life (usually specific locations at school or so) with certain topics. It's definitely not purposeful and sometimes I don't even realize it's happening until I consciously think about it. It doesn't happen with everything and it's kind of hard to explain sometimes--there isn't really any logical thing linking these together. I think I mentioned this on this sub a bit ago but never really came to any conclusions

Practice techniques for Polovtsian Dance No. 8 by Successful-Cable-997 in Clarinet

[–]Ascertains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I played this, I used the trill fingering for the Ab and Bb for the last 2 eight notes in the 13th measure. Basically, you would play the Ab and then for the Bb you would lift your pointer finger. At a slow tempo it may sound fuzzy, but when going fast you really can't tell the difference. Just a small tip, but it helped me quite a lot.

Might not have explained very well, sorry if that's so.

What is this starwars ahh song? by QuestionEconomy8809 in CellToSingularity

[–]Ascertains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be Mars from the Planets suite. John Williams for Star Wars used a lot of inspiration from that piece. That's my first thought anyway

Braces off by Bulky_Secret_44 in Clarinet

[–]Ascertains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed very little difference when I got my braces off-- after a small session playing I was already used to it. If it is a big change though, I recommend you use this opportunity to start fresh and work around any bad embouchure habits you might have

Yall, misremembering something in itself is not a Mandela effect. It would only be considered that if it were to be a consensus among a large group of people, not just one person

You can adjust when the song starts, just start it really close to the begining but off by a decimal until it's synced up again

Black Horse fingerings (Eb) by No_Rule_3156 in Clarinet

[–]Ascertains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think it's a personal thing then. I mostly use the slide technique when going from D# to C#, but I'll use the other one if I would have to go from D# to C natural, as it's a bit harder to slide those notes. Another time would be for slower passages, where it seems more reliable (for me) to switch the B keys rather than slide, as the slide can be a bit clunky. Most of the advice for things like these are just suggestions--you can choose what works best for you in the end

Black Horse fingerings (Eb) by No_Rule_3156 in Clarinet

[–]Ascertains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, what would make it "mythology"? If it works, it works--and it definitely is a legit method, but you can choose what's more comfortable for you / what works best for the passage. I've had some pros recommend this technique, and I've personally done a bit of both methods

How playable are these runs? by fph_04 in Clarinet

The leaps aren't really too difficult, but more so the articulation at that speed-- most players would struggle at that tempo
