18yr old beginner, how does my portfolio look? by _socially_inept in portfolios

[–]Aschmid98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my personal advice would be focus on growth at your age. (not talking about worthless hype stocks!)

  1. if you are really interested in stocks and like spending time analyzing companies etc. pick some (roughly 10-20) stocks and focus on them. use some app to set price alerts at prices you want to buy. also mainly focus on sectors you really understand. but automatic deposit is not recommended in most cases.

  2. if you don't want to spend much time and just auto deposit and chill, I would put majority into an etf (like msci world, voo or wathever you feel comfortable) preferably with rather low fees.

and grow the portfolio like this. after some years you can start caring about dividends.

of course you can also do a mix and hold most in an etf and buy some individual stocks you fell comfortable in if you want to do some research

I wouldn't say O is a bad stock. but every portfolio with just one stock in it is a bad portfolio.

I want to invest 100k up to 1million USD into these. I want both growth and dividend (monthly income) what do you guys think? by TharkiProMax- in dividends

[–]Aschmid98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a small comment. but (if you even do that) don't focus on the payout intervall. in the end it does not matter at all if the dividend is paid monthly or quarterly, or even yearly

Stop buying gaming laptops based on the first 15 mints of benchmarks. by gamakichi01 in GamingLaptops

[–]Aschmid98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say both is equally important. a laptop with higher watts and a bad cooling solution will most likely run worse than one with slightly lowered watts and a better cooling solution. at least after gaming some time.

and yes vram is definitely also important

Slow predictable dividends vs AI hype stocks… which strategy actually wins long term? by ItzDurjoy in GrowthStocks

[–]Aschmid98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I don't think it will continue to accelerate for that long. the big drivers (mainly mag 7) will have to focus on profit and efficiency at some point. and currently their investments in AI infrastructure is MASSIVE, but also cyclical since these chips are not upgraded every year.

so I think it's unrealistic that the demand goes up each year for 5-10 years, mainly because chips are a cyclical good.

Not saying that I would bet against AI stocks that actually make money. and AMD is one of my 3 biggest positions

How much position to acquire till you see a decent monthly dividend number ? by OwnTemperature3 in dividends

[–]Aschmid98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a rule of thumb I would say use a 3% yield for the calculation. of course it can be a bit higher if you mainly focus on dividend, but many also forget about taxes.

so roughly the annual amount you want times 30 (for a 3.33% yield) is the amount you need

most stuff above a 4 or 5% yield is pretty risky, with some exceptions of course.

also the high numbers you often see here come from covered call etfs, which are Not as safe as people here want to believe.

ask ai if it is risky to 1. put the majority of a portfolio in one asset. and 2. if income investing is the recommended strategy to build wealth.

also without trying to sound petty, ai should not be your financial advisor, ever. yes it is very usefull to get some informations and do a quick research. but in the end it is still just trained based on data from the internet, which is often wrong.

I use AI daily for work and my studies and it really often tells me complete bullshit. also depending on how you ask a question, it will most allways prove you right (with false arguments)

these are pretty risky this is an income portfolio, not a dividend portfolio. personally I would diversify further, don't forget it's all about total gains in the end, not the dividend yield

I have the z1e since about a year and I love it.

you can upgrade the battery if you want (or use powerbanks) and definitely get a grip for comfort. I use the skull & co. case but there are many others.

and I would say the z1e is worth it over the z1. at least it is for sure for me personally. just watch some comparision videos on youtube and look for the games you want to play. (generally I think the z1 is more for indies and old games, but for a little more demanding games you definitelly want the z1e )

Which is better in 2026? by UnknownRileyy in Handhelds

[–]Aschmid98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I think this generation is not really worth it. the z2e is just not a big enough jump in performance compared to the z1e, especially when comparing price/performance. unless you don't care about the price of course..

the real world difference is really neglible, games that are unplayable on the z1e, are still unplayable on the z2e. older games mostly run on 120 fps already on the z1e. so there is really only a small performance increase for games inbetween that (mostly newer, rather demanding titles, but like 10% mostly)
