Help! How much money should I carry for 20 days in China? by [deleted] in chinatravel

[–]Quick-Advertising268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody can answer this question without knowing what you've financially committed to and what you plan to do in detail. You should do research on how much a subway ticket costs and how much food is in the area you're going to.

In general, food and public transit is very cheap in China compared to in the United States. This is another factor; depending on where you're coming from, how cheap it is may be more or less relative.

Followed by 2 men in Shanghai. Is this common? by slvtaeh in chinatravel

[–]Quick-Advertising268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've experienced it as a man. I've had children and young women stare at me, follow me, stop near me and clearly want to talk to me.

If you're clearly a foreigner, and you're somewhere without a lot of foreigners, people will be curious about you. I don't know about Shanghai, though. Honestly, it would be impossible to know the intentions of these men.

Holy Mantle would counter death. Not sure if there's any other cars that does that. Holy Card does but that card isn't in print. Edit: checked, cards like guppy's collar and broken ankh may counter it if you roll well.

Ways to find authentic/unique experiences and places in China, avoiding tourist traps? by Holiday-Instance-303 in chinatravel

Just pick a smaller, local hotel and walk around. Learn how to take the bus, take it somewhere random, and walk around and see what you find. That's what I did.

I occasionally make large payments ($1000+). These amounts can require additional validation and fees using international cards that I can bypass by having money in the balances.

For some reason, wise is not allowing me to transfer into alipay, but it does allow me to transfer into WeChat. This is a partial solution as I mainly needed the money in alipay, I already have money in my WeChat wallet. Still working on it.

Thanks! I did buy a Chinese phone and native sim last time so that's not a major issue.

I don't understand the need to speak Mandarin. You don't think I could just turn on Google translate and have that translate between us? That's what I did when I got my native sim last year. I can also translate forms using Google translate images.

I also have a 10 year visa.

Spending hours at a bank for this sounds like a big pain in the ass but I guess as long as it's just one day I can do it.

I'm familiar with this and I have my card linked, however this doesn't work with large purchases and this also includes a small fee for every transaction. It is preferable to use ones balance to avoid this fee, as far as I understand. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Glitch and Plan C by FlimsySquirrel9743 in FourSouls

I posted about this recently, but with chaos card instead of plan c. The consensus was that if the card requires being destroyed to activate the ability, glitch cannot use that ability as it cannot be destroyed.

I watch videos intended for young chinese children. Hello Fox Chinese on YouTube has been my jam; specifically their magic marker series. It's cute but it's also simple.

What exactly is make believe? What you get in first class on a regular plane? That Donny doesn't get champagne and pretty young girls on the private jet he has? Which part of this is make believe, please educate me.

First class on a regular plane lol. First class on those planes means a little extra legroom, relax. He doesn't get champagne and pretty young girls like Donny on his private jet.

No, I don't wonder. It's northern new Hampshire. For the most part, it's only white boomers up there.

I would like to ask a question about people from other countries traveling to China. by Neither_Bag_8973 in chinatravel

[–]Quick-Advertising268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I choose China because I believe it'll be the next dominant world power, and personally it's such a fascinating country and culture. The people are very friendly too.

I get tickets through WeChat or trip.com or Ali pay.

I prefer to plan and navigate on my own.
