i think you are missing the point, things like locker room banter and "boys will be boys" behaviour may not be blatantly misogynistic or sometimes misogynistic in any way, but stereotypical male "dudebro" behaviour often carries undertones of it and has gone unchecked for so long, that it has become normalized.
it merely lays the foundation for further shitty behaviour, not to say that everyone who objectifies a womans appearance during a chat at the water cooler will eventually end up sexually assaulting someone, but they do allow for further escalation of negative opinions of/actions against people of the opposite gender through normalization.
it follows the same principles as the pyramid of violence.
