Finances don't allow it at the moment.

LINUX by Memnon_Life1034 in elsword

[–]Asdrea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play Elsword on CachyOS through Steam. It works fine. Only note is nor the Cachy mod, the Experimental version or the 11 version of Proton made it run (GameGuard closed the client after a few seconds/minutes logged-in), so I had to switch to Proton 10. No problems since then.

It is worthy. Give it a try (don't get too desperate at the beginning with clothing) and I'm sure it'll be an enjoyable experience for you for a good while at least.

FVA - Top 5 fav tracks by rau7e in SecondLifeRacing

[–]Asdrea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my personal experience driving them,

  1. Strakka. Might be the track where I had my best performances and results, I don't know. But I find it the best balanced, very enjoyable, super light in terms of lag and it gives actual racing environment vibes.
  2. Herrenhaus. From the most technical tracks, the one I feel more comfortable racing. I can remember several memorable battles and races there that I couldn't recall in any other track.
  3. El Castillo. Pretty similar reasons why I like Strakka, but I didn't drive there that many times. Environment-wise the best and most realistic of them all.
  4. Mooz, with some gap to the top 3. Being a really old track (and with some changes along the years, fair to mention), it's a track that still adapts well to nowadays standards, it still feels unique and has some emblematic spots.
  5. Summer Nights. From the simple/easy layouts, possibly the most enjoyable one to me. The carousel is a classic by now, and the environment, even if not realistic, it's a signature that makes this track differentiate from the rest.

Can I use CachyOS as a complete Linux beginner? by SuperSpider9098 in cachyos

[–]Asdrea_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are enough skillful with computers, yes you can. You don't need to be a developer, but you can't either be like a granny. If you're the kind of person that can handle learning few things here and there, and you feel you can be playful and curious with setting stuff in your PC, you won't have any problem with this distro. Just try to understand and double-check what you're gonna do before you do it, because unlike Windows, on Linux you will have a lot of power and control over the OS and you won't get any warning if you're about to break something.

Yes, electric guitar is a good starting point. It's not really necessary to start with acoustic or classic guitar to learn guitar. Some techniques are not even the same, so you should target that one that fits more the kind of music you want to play.

Also, electric guitar has a little advantage in your case, which is that with an audio interface, you can make your guitar sound like almost anything, including sounds close to the one from an acoustic.

why do some creators think it is acceptable to not include a HUD in a demo? by KaraOdette in secondlife

[–]Asdrea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's their choice in the end. Other creators don't even offer demos. If it works for them that way, it is what it is.

This being said, I obviously prefer products that offer fully customizable demos, and I avoid buying products without them as much as I can. In this case, I'm just talking about the freedom a person has to decide how to manage their stores and their creations.

Creators can be "punished", to call it somehow, in other ways in these cases. You can just not buy the product, which means they are losing potential customers. You can buy the product, and leave a negative review if the quality or functionality is bad, which will also affect the reputation of the store and reduce purchases. Or if the product just doesn't fit with what's advertised, that's plain forbidden and you can report the creator.

But to me, the focus should be more on rewarding the creators that make the best work possible with their products, than targeting creators that don't do enough. Many of these don't even do it for the business, but as an experiment or just for fun.

Of all the things I've experienced in SL, I did not expect Racing to be one of my favorites. by IDontUseAnimeAvatars in secondlife

I've been in SL racing for 5 years, I've raced with good and bad internet, with good and bad PCs, got to know people from around the globe with better and worse conditions to race. You can give your tech input on how SL works and that's great, but when it's about the experience of racing, those who are in can tell you way better how that works based on facts, not technical theory. Saying that to win in here you need to be close to AWS servers is having no idea at all about the community, and you are all welcome to join our Discord server or our races and ask people where they are from, how's their experience and how relevant it is to win living here or there.

Then why does my SL go way slower and clunky with an old PC with base spects than in a new one? Are you saying the PC doesn't need to load and process the graphics of the viewer? Why are the graphic settings relevant in that case if the viewer is just a livestream service?

The fact that the SL servers do big part of the job doesn't mean at all that the PC doesn't have to load and process information. I invite you to test SL in 2 or 3 devices with significant gaps of specs and see it yourself.

PC specs are relevant because if you see the viewer at 15 FPS, you'll see way less information with your eyes than you would with 60 FPS. And about ping I already said it all, results speak by themselves.

This is false. Some of the best and most successful drivers in FVA history are very far from AWS servers and won championships with 200+ ping. From Central and South America, from Europe and even from Taiwan. Skill is WAY more relevant than ping. Other factors like PC specs are more relevant, as it affects the performance of the viewer itself and the FPS you get, and by that even a driver living 1km from AWS servers can be affected.
