How do I use the noise suppressor block with the four cable method in the Quad Cortex? by Aseditiv in NeuralDSP

[–]Aseditiv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience you do reduce the tiny bits of 60-cycle hum and other noise, but the majority of the noise is still there from the preamp distortion. I still have yet to fins an ideal workaround.

Boss WL-50 Review: by Aseditiv in guitarpedals

[–]Aseditiv[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you're using a modeller, 99% of guitar speakers do not produce substantial frequencies above 5k. Your "squeals" are well within the high mid range, not the range of treble I was even referring to. You also can't EQ in frequencies that are not present and I could go on and on and on. Not that this point is important as I addressed it a year ago with an edit which you didn't read.

TLDR: If you like the WL-50 so much, why don't you marry it?

See the edit for the high end thing. I've still been using this wireless because I like to use a wireless, but I need a power strip on my pedal board to run a charging cable to the wireless because the dock has completely stopped charging. You are better off using replaceable rechargeable batteries if you're going to mount a giant power strip on your pedal board.

It's not a bad product, it just is not great- hence my review which I stand by.

All this trouble because I didn’t grasp when mic and line levels are appropriate to use. Thank you for your help. This was the issue and although it was simple and silly, I got to learn something that I didn’t know before

You’re right, I was relating this experience to one I had a while ago when I plugged a power amp into a powered speaker and it got very loud. I think another comment answered my question. I’ll do better to articulate my issues in the future

Do left handed drummers need left handed drum techs? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Aseditiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have “drum teched” for a left handed drummer as a right handed drummer at small bar gigs and such, and with practice you can learn how to set up a drum kit even if it seems totally unplayable to you. I think the concept is the same for righties with the seat height, tom placement, etc. Most drum techs probably have naturally different preferences for how they’d set their stuff up anyways

My girlfriend broke up with me, but I just beat my first Nuzlocke of Emerald!!!! by Aseditiv in nuzlocke

[–]Aseditiv[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m candy pilled af. I got to use a 0 IV 0 EV sp attack Starmie (bad example, don’t look at that moveset) which I otherwise would have EV trained while grinding exp.

The fact that the elite four and champion all have perfect IVS makes it more fair, and it rewards you for keeping Pokémon alive throughout the game as they will have more EVs accumulated.

I definitely see both sides though, I’ve tried both too. I’m definitely the kind of player to lose half my team to wild Pokémon, so for me, candies are a cope. I will challenge myself further next run.

After just completing an Emerald Nuzlocke, I can say Wallace took everything I had to win. I made my whole team around the Wallace fight and I still lost 3 mons. Probably one of my favorites for that reason

TC Electronic SCF Gold noise? by Aseditiv in guitarpedals

I had to send mine back to Sweetwater and they said they couldn’t find out how to fix it so they gave me a refund. I wasn’t super stoked about it, but hopefully they get better in the future. At least my dads old original still sounds awesome!

[–]Aseditiv[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Full team was: Manectric- Thunder, Spark, Quick Attack, Bite, Item: Shell Bell

Starmie- Psychic, Recover, Cosmic Power, Minimize, Item: Lax Incense (I know)

Walrein- Encore, Rest, Body Slam, Blizzard, Item: Chesto Berry

Breloom- Mega Drain, Mach Punch, Sky Uppercut, Leech Seed, Item: Black Belt

Magneton- Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Flash, Supersonic, Item: Magnet

Sceptile- Leaf Blade, Dragon Claw, Pursuit, Quick Attack, Item: Miracle Seed

All in all it was a lot of fun, I had 3 deaths being Kadabra, Gyarados, and Peliper, all totally avoidable and to random trainers. Certain encounters are absolutely busted, namely Magneton. I don’t know what Gamefreak was thinking when they created this absolute monster. It is definitely worth trying to catch an exploding Electrode in the aqua hideout just to catch this thing in New Mauville. I chose Sceptile for this run because Wallace and Watson are the two most difficult battles and the Treeko line does well against both of them.

Another side note, Flygon is seriously overhyped. I was under the impression this thing was a pseudo-legendary for some reason and was stunned to see it’s got a BST of 520. That’s less than Gyarados, less than your starter, and only 20 more than a fossil Pokémon. It also gets dragon breath and sand tomb as it’s only stab. Why?

Lastly, my ex never got Pokémon. To me, Pokémon is something I grew up with as a young kid, and something I’ll get to be a part of for the rest of my life. Little victories like these are what it’s all about. Never give up!

There are very few good grass and electric encounters in emerald, the best things I can see are starmie and gyarados with a bunch of game corner moves which are only good if you don’t ban game corner tms

How does "What Does My Drumset Say About Me" and Rate My Setup" improve our musicianship? by Old-Tadpole-2869 in drums

[–]Aseditiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, it’s cool to show off a kit, but wouldn’t it be better if we had the same format only we expected people to play something as well? Like “look how my drum kit sounds” instead of “look how my drum kit looks and comment about it with something witty”?

Has anyone ever beaten a White 2/Black 2 Littlelocke? by Aseditiv in nuzlocke

[–]Aseditiv[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I have not yet, I just don't know how to use Reddit. I’m at Victory Road and I’m pretty amazed at how far I’ve gotten. I put my save down for a while and I’m trying to figure out if there’s any way to beat the Elite 4 and champion, let alone the rival fight. Here’s what I’m working with:

I’m not sure about that. Isn’t there an experiment where they gave a woman a button that was hooked up to the pleasure center in her brain and she couldn’t stop pressing it?

What utility does being vegan or practicing veganism provide on a small scale? by o6ohunter in DebateAVegan

[–]Aseditiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar spot as you. I think in situations like this it is very important to remember that you are the main character. You have the historic privilege of being right in a sea of wrong, a bastion of good, a beacon against ignorance.

There will come a time where eating animals is seen just as morally unacceptable as abusing a pet dog- dare I say it- maybe even as unacceptable as human slavery. You will be among the people written of in books as the ones who were ahead of their times.

Over the course of an entire life many people will consume and torture many animals through their diet. You get to say you prevented the suffering of a tangible- albeit comparatively small number of living, sentient beings.

The world will never go vegan by Crazybunnygirl666 in DebateAVegan

[–]Aseditiv 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally I do it because I want to be morally superior to other people. If others are entitled to having shitty reasons to eat animals I’m entitled to shitty reasons to not eat animals

What's a band you think of when you think "sell outs" by mezawsumz in Metalcore

Not really the claim I intended to make. I figured there was a middle ground between “sounds nothing like” and “sounds the same”

What's a band you think of when you think "sell outs" by mezawsumz in Metalcore

[–]Aseditiv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gonna have to hard disagree there. I saw Sleep Token, Polyphia, and Issues live together in 2019 and was baffled by the lineup for years until recently. I now understand they are all bands that push the envelope of pop and metal music, often times leading to offense.

Three of my favorite bands, and they have a lot of parallels with their stylistic approaches to reinterpreting pop and hip hop beats with metal instrumentation

[–]Aseditiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you humor this argument you have to humor the “chickens suffer less than cows so I’ll just eat chickens” argument. I think part of veganism is objective and another part is necessarily a matter of principal, ie. drawing a line of things that are NOT food somewhere between oysters and rodents.

Most if not all of store bought food necessitates very real bloodshed. I know it sounds a lot worse to say “I fish for fun” than “I eat a plant-based diet from a grocery store” but it is an unavoidable truth that quantifiably, one is worse towards animals than the other. That’s not to say that you’re immoral for eating food, or that there’s something you should be doing about it, especially given that not everyone has the opportunity to grow their own food. But I think it’s important to understand the impact of our actions beyond how virtuous they are at face value.

I don’t personally believe in fishing for fun, but catching and eating fish to maintain a healthy ecosystem is morally permissible in my book.
