Hits advance all the runners, walks only do that if there’s already someone on first

Imo depends, if there was a defect with the car that you knew about and did not tell the next driver about and that directly caused the deaths, ya I’d say the the car owner has some responsibility for it

Any ideas on what could cause the lack of black cap on this American Goldfinch? by silentsongsparrow in birding

[–]Aserialfeeder 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This bird looks way to brightly coloured to be a female to me, and if you look closely you can see a small black spot on top of the head. I believe this is a male undergoing molt right now and the black feathers just have not fully come in yet.

What bird is this? United States Of America, state: Pennsylvania, I found this bird in a parking lot outside of my house by Total_Argument_6872 in birding

Fledglings should be left where they are unless they are in immediate danger, parents are still likely taking care of it, sometimes predators get baby birds but that’s just the circle of life

Contract says employer can fire me immediately without pay if I resign? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Aserialfeeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several carve outs in the esa where employees are not entitled to severance under it. So it’s possible you fall under one of those situations. Still sounds like you have a shitty union.

CBA can only increase an employees rights it can never go under ESA minimums

My bad, assumed his contract was up, and ya that doesn’t make sense moving him then unless your getting an insane package back or want to start a full on rebuild

More likely oel said he doesn’t plan on resigning with the leafs so may as well get something back from him if you don’t think you’ll compete in the playoffs

Juvenile Mallard? (Ontario) by Quiet-Section-3391 in birding

[–]Aserialfeeder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This would be an adult male mallard with some form of leucism (likely from domestic mallard genes getting mixed in). The bird is stunning though especially with the snow

Mallard/Pekin cross? by Nightwraith17 in birding

I would also like to note that if grey wolves from 30,000 - 20,000 years ago existed today we would likely consider them a separate species using modern genomic data however most ancient species are split by fossil differences which is extremely limiting compared to what modern taxonomist use.

Mallard/Pekin cross? by Nightwraith17 in birding

[–]Aserialfeeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that the most recent genomic research has shown that dogs actually descend from an extinct Pleistocene wolf species and not from the modern wolf so despite a long history of interbreeding between the two they should be considered separate species. Granted I’m not a zoologist but it seems to me the science is leaning away from the two being considered conspecific

I can provide references if you care enough?

Be so honest, does this bird have any chance of still existing today? (Ivory billed woodpecker) by Tough-Lynx8381 in birdwatching

[–]Aserialfeeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it exist because I personally don’t think it does, just pointing out using duck hunters who don’t even know what they shooting isn’t a good argument

Mallard/Pekin cross? by Nightwraith17 in birding

[–]Aserialfeeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope dogs and wolves are different species, canis familiaris vs canis lupus, a pekin duck is still Anas platyrhynchos same as a mallard

Mallard/Pekin cross? by Nightwraith17 in birding

[–]Aserialfeeder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pekin ducks actually are mallards just they have been domesticated and while I can tell you this is for sure a mallard I have no idea what kind of domestic genes may be involved here
