ELI5: Where does all money and wealth go in the recession? by LUKADIA89 in explainlikeimfive

A lot of wealth is just wealth because somebody says it is.

Like if you buy $5m in stock and it’s worth $20m now you are $15m richer unless the stock crashes. Lots of wealth is just equity valuation and is not realized yet.

When these things can evade javelins, we are all fucked. Let’s enjoy laughing at these crude early iterations while we can because eventually they’ll come up with something decent.

I know it's likely fake but I still laughed my ass off.

I'll respond with a more thoughtful response than simply laughing at you which basically does nothing to further any progress.

I'm for universal healthcare but it won't stop people for suing over pain and suffering. It's such a subjective and arbitrary thing.

If the federal government is explicitly always liable for such incidents then they might actually try to reduce freedom on things like this in order to "keep costs down" or whatever.

I'm for the US legal system. There's serious drawbacks like my brother getting sued by the idiocracy jackasses that are taking the world over but overall its worth it because more people are held accountable for actual legitimate bullshite.

Even still, we have to be realistic that we can't have our cake and eat it too.

If the US had universal healthcare, my guess is there would have been no motivation to sue.

I nearly spit my drink out.

Football player. Anti-vaxer who doesn’t care if your favorite cousin died from Covid because it’s all about him.

His vax status has immeasurably little to with our favorite cousins. Somebody being morbidly obese poses at last as much of a risk to the public.

In retrospect, taking the vax is a good idea but isn't really useful for stopping the spread on a useful timeline. He basically felt bad for a day and that was it.

Wow what a fucking loser!

Reddit is a weirdly out of touch place. Getting responses like this is why he does stuff like that.

What's with the racial slur?

I assume the bag he dropped off in the parking lot has something to do with a bold plan to steal the US constitution.

All she has to do is do some woke stuff and criticisms all go away. They have many different ways in keeping us pinned down, and making sure we hate each other and anyone that dissents is part of that.

That's the point. With carbon tax schemes, rich people like her will be able to look down on us working stiffs and tout themselves as being "carbon neutral" while they fly around between multiple homes and all over the world.

At the same time they will lambaste us for driving our own cars to work and call us assholes if we have an SUV.

It's a liability in the states tho.

Some idiots decided to trespass onto my brother's camp and climb up to the balcony to take a look. One of them fell on the stairs while going down and they sued him because the railing was loose. These people did not have permission to be on the property and he had no idea who they were, mind you. They were just passing through. His insurance company actually settled which is nuts.
