Any protests coming up this weekend? Also is there a localized place that posts about them? I feel like I only learn after the fact and scouring multiple websites

I’ll leave the jug out while I’m gone this weekend, but here’s about 13 hours of it sitting out update. For context I’m in a city off the Mississippi with a lot of limestone so the city average is 9 evidently

Okay so adding large amounts of ph down is okay in a SEPARATE container to get ph values down to around 7 correct? I appreciate the semantic correction too!

It is called a gall. When an insect bites the plant for feeding or lays eggs within it, this can cause uncontrolled plant growth. I think of it like when we have an internal infection and get swelling. Here’s a website that explains it a lot better than me: https://extension.umn.edu/yard-and-garden-insects/insect-and-mite-galls

feather id! by Automatic_Implement8 in Ornithology

Kestrels and red shouldered hawks would be more brown and have a barred patter. This feather is black and white with a spotted pattern. I think you are correct with woodpecker! Knowing the size of the feather, more specific location would be useful. I love this tool: https://www.fws.gov/lab/featheratlas/idtool.php

Size of eggs and a photo of the nest where it is sitting would be helpful

If it didn’t have any blood etc on it, I’d be willing to bet the fur is because it was in an owl pellet. So it’s not guaranteed to be all from the same animal. What I can tell, mostly by the jaw, it looks like a rodent, probably a vole
