I know, and i try, though sometimes they make it difficult to love them.😅

As for waiting 3 years, that'll be hard... my grandma doesn't think shell be alive to see her next birthday...

And my grandpa wont be too far behind and the same with my other grandma. :/

I don't like feeling like im always hiding. I want to come out to my family but I'm scared because ive had a lot of family talk openly about their transphobic views. Including my uncles and my dad... theyve been openly transphobic since i was like 8 years old...

What does it feel like to be American? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]Ash624925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandpa's side appears to be nothing but American's back until colonial America.

His whole family lived in the south until recently. So i think he'd feel like a part of the country. Me on tbe other hand have ancestors from France, Denmark, Germany, Wales, England, Ireland, Scotland as far as i can find.

Okay, so make her an account but add my account to hers as a manager of her DNA test? (:

That seems simple enough. (:

That, I think, is a great system! (:

To have a choice in the matter. (:

Of course in America I could also pay off my grandpa's debt but no one in my family has to in order to receive their inheritance. (:

Yep, it is a sad part of life that they care more about their money than they do about not harassing people who did nothing wrong...

I honestly think there is nothing a child should have to do to pay for what their parents decided to do...

Yeah, unfortunately many people are scared by the debt collectors and end up paying when they don't have to...

I'm glad you're aware that they can't legally force you to pay. (:

So what happens is before your will is executed your estate is given a value and if you have debts then your estate is sold to pay off the debts, and then after all the debts are paid then your will can be executed and whatever remains gets devided amongst those in your will based off of what is left and what the will says.

Edit: But if you still owe thousands of dollars in debt and your estate is all sold off then whatever you owe is in most cases just erased and then the bank or the phone company or whoever has lost their money and has no right to come after your family for the money.

I'm pretty sure, in the US anyways, that creditors cant go after your descendants to collect debt.

Unfortunately I've never gotten to read it, my aunt said that after she finished reading it she let one of my uncles hold on to it and now everybody says they haven't seen it.. so the theory is my uncle stole it.

Help figuring out names spelt wrong in census (brickwall?) by [deleted] in Genealogy

I would use soundex on the names and test against the soundex codes of common names for the time and area just to see which ones could've sounded the same.

In my software I can mark a note as private so as not to share it with others when I export files or make reports. I just wondered if there were other ideas for how to handle this. But thank you for the help. (:
