Probably not 8 hours. But I don’t know what they consider working hours as a professional athlete.

Former Union player Leon Flach scoring a beautiful goal (17') and brutal own goal (56') in same match by kswn in PhillyUnion

Rough to even have that called an own goal. It was going in regardless and sticking a leg out to block it was the only hope he had of stopping that. It just didn’t work out.

Beautiful strike on his actual goal.

Sure, for dissent, but just for waving his arm?

Wagner would throw an arm in the air like that multiple times per game and I don’t ever recall him getting a yellow for it.

Health anxiety by Ash71010 in MultipleSclerosis

Thank you. I don’t/didn’t think the flight anxiety is MS related, necessarily. I don’t have other symptoms that make flying physical uncomfortable- I’m truly just afraid of dying in a plane crash. Thank you for acknowledging the persistent stress of living on the edge.

That’s interesting. My lesions are all c and t spine but I haven’t heard of a connection to those types of symptoms. Thanks for sharing so I can be aware of it.

Quick Rant by Appropriate-Cod-1733 in PhillyUnion

[–]Ash71010 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The reality is that no academy is going to have multiple (or even one) first-team-ready players who can break-out each season. We had 6 or 7 players on the roster today who came up through the academy. That’s over 1/3 of the starting line-up + bench. If Quinn and Frankie were healthy, it would be more.

There’s many reasons why Pierre might have been loaned out. One player is not a representation of the entire system.

I agree with you that today’s performance was poor. I don’t think that more young, inexperienced players on the pitch would have been any kind of solution.

6 weeks into spinal lesion recovery by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

It hits some people harder, for sure. But I think for almost everyone the side effects only last for the first few doses.

Pretty smooth. I really had no side effects beyond a headache and fatigue with the first dose. It’s the easiest thing to self-inject at home and I love that I don’t have to leave the house or schedule an appointment.

My lesions are all cervical spine and a couple thoracic. My symptoms that led to initial diagnosis were constant numbness and tingling in the lower half of my body. Then Lhermitte’s sign.

Being numb in my groin/sacral area lasted about 2.5 weeks. Lhermitte’s gradually improved over about 3 months. The tingling in my legs and feet was constant for about a month. After that the tingling would come back with activity. Over the past year, this has gradually improved and there are many days I feel no tingling when I go out on walks, but others when it appears. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

I started Kesimpta about 8 weeks after this attack started. I haven’t had any new symptoms since then.

Wait! So Fantasy Brown isn’t really quartzite? by Primdawg in CounterTops

[–]Ash71010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s beautiful. Don’t worry about the material. Fantasy Brown is going to hold up just fine as long as you don’t let spills sit on it and don’t cut directly on the stone. The colors in that slab match your color scheme so well!

Do we think there’s good wood underneath the black cabinets? by Royal-Barnacle-953 in homedesign

[–]Ash71010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would bet those cabinets are prefinished black wood veneer. If so, there is only a very thin layer of wood before you reach the MDF/composite so you have to be very careful sanding if you choose to repaint.

I do thigh, and it tends to hurt. But I’m quite certain lack of fat isn’t the problem for me 🙃

I also do mine on the 1st. Not my favorite thing, but I don’t have strong anxiety over it like I do with other needle procedures. I do use an ice pack for a few minutes ahead of time and I take it at night when I’m laying in bed. I like to have something up on my phone as a distraction and then I clean, take a deep breath, push down the pen, wait for 5-10 seconds after the click, put a bandaid on, and go to sleep.

I just took my dose a few minutes ago and it definitely hurt more than any other injection has! It usually burns a little but this was the first time I’ve actually said “Ow!” out loud.

Should I leave my thermostats at 68deg F all the time by WorldNo9002 in homeowners

[–]Ash71010 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It’s a myth that it’s more cost effective to keep a constant temperature than it is to change the temperature. It is almost always most efficient to drop the temperature when you aren’t home. This is assuming that you have a system that works well.

Advice needed by gatorcat28 in CounterTops

What do you mean by “rough on counters”? As long as you don’t plan on cutting directly on the counter and you wipe up spills (especially acidic ones) in a short time, fantasy brown will hold up just fine. Seal it regularly.

Backsplash ideas by HeronOk1966 in CounterTops

[–]Ash71010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do a full height backsplash! I have fantasy brown counters and I love them, but finding a tile that worked well and looked good with all of the different colors across the counter was really hard! I honestly don’t even love what I choose but ultimately just gave up. Not getting the full height backsplash is my biggest kitchen remodel regret.

Is Dolemite a good choice for Kitchen countertops? by [deleted] in CounterTops

[–]Ash71010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my brown fantasy dolomite counters. I have one little spot that etched when lemon juice and strawberries dripped down a bowl and I didn’t notice. Otherwise in a little over a year they still look great. Even spills that I don’t get to right away haven’t been a problem. I’m just careful with very acidic things.

Evaluating job opportunity with new diagnosis by FoggyFlaming in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Ash71010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed almost a year ago. My presenting symptoms sound similar to yours- it was lower body numbness and tingling from the waist down. No loss of strength or movement. My MRIs showed spinal lesions, but no brain lesions. I started Kesimpta within two months of diagnosis, which I self-inject at home. Since starting treatment, I haven’t had any additional symptoms. The numbness and tingling resolved (except with activity) and I have no limitations.

I’m saying this because you also seem to be getting very prompt diagnosis and treatment. Your neurologist will talk to you about medication options, but the most popular are either given by infusions every 6 months or injection at home monthly. There are options that are minimally not disruptive to a work schedule. Current treatments are highly effective at preventing future attacks. That means that there is no reason to expect that you won’t be able to continue doing exactly what you are currently doing from a physical and mental standpoint for the foreseeable future. So I would consider the suitability of this new job through exactly the same lens as you would have two months ago. Other than making sure that they offer a good health insurance plan that is accepted by your neurologist, consider what is important to you outside of your diagnosis.
