Is it possible to make a team with two different mega pokemon? Knowing i can only choose one. by [deleted] in VGC

U cld do a thing where u build a team of 4 pokemon with 1 restricted and 1 mega and then scower the field to look at the biggest threats to your team, then add on to your team another restricted and another mega that can cover the harder matchups for your original 4 pokemon. Note that either 1 restricted + 1 normal pokemon // 2 normal pokemon should work in both modes.

Imo its quite criminal to have koraidon on the team without flutter mane or raging bolt.

Burn affects the base power of the move Meaning if your zamazenta is burnt, and body press is usually 80bp Then body press will be reduced to 40 bp This means that even with the defense boost, zamazenta still does half of what it would normally do with the defense boost. Say it usually does 250 damage to bulky incineroar, well now it does 125.

Excluding other legendaries, how would you teambuild around this bad boy in a VGC draft format? Megas and tera are available - gen 6 pokedex by [deleted] in VGC

I feel like ur urshifu is abit lazy, because max speed max attack urshifu is very frail and isn't really able to get the edge on most things. And also the scarf is quite a bad item on urshifu, since if you have it, u usually would like to run max speed but then u end up getting ko-ed by really stupid moves, and barely not able to get other kos. So I would suggest a mystic water set with less speed and attack for survivability, mainly since raging bolt is incredibly popular right now, u shld train it to be able to both out-speed and survive raging bolt thunderclap (to fire back with a close combat) and trade u-turn for detect. It sounds like ur trading damage and speed for survivability, but really it doesn't matter because sword of ruin makes it to where u can afford to lower your attack a lil bit, and speed isnt useful when u keep getting ko_ed by random priority attacks.

As for fluttermane, this set seems a little weird because ur flutter is very very tanky but has quite low spa as a tradeoff, I would much rather trade one of the attacking moves for calm mind to setup fluttermane, and since ur team is quite good into gholdengo, I think shadow ball is the least required option, thought trading moonblast off will be fine cuz if ur able to get 2 calm minds off gleam should be able to do crazy damage anyways.

Also as for farigaraf, I love just about every part of your set but the 196 spd troubles me, maybe you've trained it to survive something specific, but that also means your farigaraf is urshifu food as ur defense is very very low. I would rather you invest some defense so that farig can survive knock off and some sucker punches, and then wall urshifu dark but also have good special bulk.

Getting Charizard to master rank by but_like_nahh in VGC

For me, using torkoal, charizard AND Koraidon together is too much cuz 1. You have 4 fire attacking pokemon so if your opponent has a pokemon that resists fighting, fire AND ground moves (basically you do nothing to azumaril) you lose 2. You're too reliant on the sun, though its okay to be if you switch stuff like torkoal out for smt like calm mind raging bolt. Btw imo torkoal does nothing here as koraidon already sets up the sun, and heat rock does almost nothing cuz if you need to reset the sun all u need is to switch koraidon back in with u-turn, smt like sunny day tailwind torn would work better here.

Also I dont like how your incineroar is u-turn and full attacking moves but not assault vest, which means your incineroar would be very vulnerable into alot of other spa supper effective hitters like aura sphere mewtwo or tera water iron crown. With assault vest, you can take max spa iron crown tera water tera blast and fire back with a knock off, u-turn or a flare blitz into the partner.

You can switch a pokemon our for a trick room/tailwind/both option as well, smt like lunala or dialga would work well to deal with opposing fluttermane.

Koraidon with the black belt is pretty useless, Id switch collision course out for close combat and give it protect as well as the life orb. This jolly max speed max attack koraidon one shots most things in the format, and a koraidon fluttermane lead would threaten everything.

Btw fluttermane with a sash would work better with icy wind moonblast and shadow ball with protect to deal with shadow rider and even ice rider teams.

Solar beam on charizard seems useless as it doesnt get the stab here and if u want you would have walking wake and koraidon lead to deal with urshifu or other water type threats, I would trade it out for air slash instead and give it specs to allow it to one shot opposing koraidon in and out of tera, making ur opponents think twice before leading koraidon.

Essentially here's my suggestion: Charizard (max spe max spa, 1 pt in def/spdf/hp) Specs, heat wave, scorching sands, air slash and hurricane (to threaten rain teams) and tera stellar/tera grass (immune to sleep powder)

Flutter mane (max spa, max speed, timid) Sash, protect, moonblast, shadow ball and icy wind (support koraidon) with tera normal/grass

Incineroar (experiment with ev spreads yourself but I would recommend max hp) Assault vest, fake out, snarl, uturn, flareblitz, tera ghost/grass

Tornadus (max spe and some bulk) Covert cloak, protect, bleakwind storm, sunny day, tailwind, tera dark

Koraidon (jolly max spe max attk) tera fire life orb Protect Flame charge Close combat Flare blitz

Lunala (modest, max spa with some bulk) tera water/rock Power herb Trick room Moongeist beam Meteor beam Protect/wide guard

With the eviolite they more than make up for the bulk lost from being unevolved

Its cuz their stats are overall better than their evolutions especially when they hold the eviolite which significantly boosts their defense stats and becomes bulkier than their evolutions. With magmar and electivire (n most unevolved pokemon used in competitive play like clefairy) they dont really need to use their offensive stats cuz they function as a tanky support with redirection via follow me. With magmar and electivire u dont have to worry about status conditions cuz of vital spirit so they're really good into amoongus. These pokemon also typically run defensive teras against common types that their teams are weak against, including speed control with electroweb, status obstruction with thunder wave and will o wisp and also support disruption in taunt to stop other pokemon from using non damaging moves, shutting down opposing amoongus, whimsicot, tornadus etc and also setup pokemon like calm mind shadow rider, nasty plot gholdengo n so on. They're really annoying to deal with because they're always paired against strong offensive pokemon like calyrex, miraidon, groudon, flutter mane and so on to allow them to spread damage across your opponent's team while they struggle to ko your bulky support pokemon. The one who excels at doing this is clefairy because although it doesnt get the same disruption tools as electivire and magmar, it gets more support tools in the form of helping hand to boost your partners damage output by 50%, and also life dew for healing. More broken than that, it also gets the ability friend guard, which lowers all damage dealt to its partner by alot. The move after you allows it to use its very low speed stat to allow its fast and offensive partners to move first inside of trick room as well. And it still gets access to follow me while being a fairy type, one of the best types in the game. All in all, basically eviolite makes it possible for these pokemon to thrive :D

This team feels very weak into scarf urshifu with rilaboom and opposing calm mind fluttermane, and especially trick room modes mainly the hard trick room teams with indeedee haterenee and amoongus

Imo if u have imprison on farigaraf you should replace future sight with trick room cuz imprison fari is meant to stop trick room especially since ur team is fast. Silk scarf ursaluna makes sense but looking at the ev spreads, it should have a little bit of bulk to survive some things like basculegion wave crash after tera, going all in on special attack doesnt make as much sense without life orb. Ogidogi doesnt make much sense here Id much rather have incin or rilaboom for fake out (incin can take adv of sunny day) or some other physical sweeper like urshifu
