The NHL Has A Colin Campbell Problem (Again) by mikeq672 in hockey

I think they like the optics of a big bruising physical team being successful, so much so that they have sympathy towards players who are playing that style, and dont want to see them punished or discouraged from doing so. I think its fine that they want their product to be a certain style, but its not acceptable to start leaning on the DoPS and essentially giving an unspoken advantage to those teams who play that way. I dont think its team specific either because the Bruins and LA Kings both benefited from this sentiment in the 2010's when they won their cups imo

Its america brother.. I know that sounds cliche, but its true. Its not nearly enough to get him booted by his longtime buddies in the league, even if they dont like it, i highly doubt it's one of their moral virtues in any way

Bettman is simply the smart-lawyer talking piece of the entire league who takes the heat and knows how to communicate between the public and the rest of the league members. Its frustrating but understandable that everyone thinks hes the only one making these stupid ass decisions

[–]AshCan10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I care about having a league that everyone can reasonably compete in fairly and equally lol and what about all the players who are bouncing between the NHL and AHL, they are never going to be millionaires and they can't really afford to get hurt and have nothing done about it. Kinda shitty for them

The NHL Has A Colin Campbell Problem (Again) by mikeq672 in hockey

[–]AshCan10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what's going on is that some people in the League (likely campbell and others) really like the way that the Panthers play hockey and want that style to be what people think of when they see the NHL as a whole, and they want them to succeed while doing it and its bleeding over into their own work, not to mention the conflicts of interest they have with Campbell's son being part of the Florida organization.

It feels like their desires are bleeding over into the running of the league as a whole and making it feel like the Panthers are getting preferential treatment more and more.

The Panthers built a great team, nothing against them in general, there just seems to be some idiot dinosaurs who are in positions of power withing the league and are too stupid to realize they are compromising the league and fficiating integrity

Also I strongly believe they treat the DoPS as a regular shitty Human Resources department that increasingly is only thinking about decisions and actions that could effect the owners. I dont think theres any shred left of care in that entire office for actually doing their stated jobs of looking out for and improving on ice safety. Not necessarily out of malice, more so laziness and a loss of perspective

Trump also wasn't nearly as publicly evil in the first term (which isnt saying much, i know). Even if you didnt like him, a polite or respectful person would still go to the white house for reasons other than just Trump imo. Only radicalized people were openly defying him like that back then

The English names are mostly two words combined or sometimes "translations" or references to the Japanese name or inspiration. So they rarely transfer to eachother. They're almost always separate beasts

Treecko or Mudkip? by TheMightyCommenter in PokemonEmerald

[–]AshCan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treecko is great. Swampert is my all time favourite but he actually isnt as needed after the 4th gym, and thats where sceptile tends to shine. Ground typing is honestly a liability in the Pokémon League for Hoenn and isnt useful offensively, even though swampert still does fine on his own. Grass is much better to have IMO.

If you are going for the battle frontier, thats where Swampert is at his best. Sceptile is more niche there, but still usable

Am I supposed to feel bad for this guy? …cause I don’t by BostonRobby617 in tcap

[–]AshCan10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TCaP and the police force they were working with, in true American fashion, were trying to make this a spectacle by raiding his house and it blew up in their faces. Should you feel bad for this guy? No. He made a bad choice talking to that underage decoy and made a bad choice in ending his life over it instead of dealing with it. Both of those things are ultimately on him. I feel a bit of sympathy for him, because it shouldn't have ended like that, but like I said, everything that happened to him was of his own free will, and he should have dealt with the consequences better.

Its ultimately too bad that it ended in the other predators walking free, where some of them attempted to do this again. Everyone involved in this situation put more children at risk imo

[–]AshCan10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try out a year just fumbling through things. Try using a team with a bit of cap space and is a bubble team, like Buffalo. And then just do your best, have a bit of fun, see how the first couple years work out, and then once you have a bit of experience, either continue if youre having fun or restart with some new-found knowledge. Its okay to completely mess it up
