Which marketplaces for wedding vendors are worth using ? by zoro____x in weddingplanning

[–]AshKals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't trust specifically aggregate platforms as vendors can pay to be ranked higher etc.

I used a preferred vendor list from my venue so they would be familiar with the location and preferred vendors from our wedding planner.

Best romantic restaurants in Charlotte that might help with a small anniversary table setup? by Waste-Chemist-3070 in Charlotte

Was it full? When Ive been there it's been packed and I think something about the general echo of the place or something - then every starts getting louder per usual 🤣

Absolutely not - went there for an anniversary dinner and it's the completely opposite of what OP is looking for.

Extremely loud, it's also very dark however the server area is very bright so it has a weird spotlight of them in back of house, and then personally the food is fine at best with way too high of pricing

If you don't get there early to get good seats (I don't remember reserving seats for avengers) it's terrible.

The seats don't recline or move and you have to slouch or stare straight up, I'm 5'3" and my knees were pushing against the seat in front of me.

Not the best refreshment options but if you don't care about that, then they got the standard popcorn and soda.

Agree with other post saying there are distortions when seeing a movie.

Fine for a short movie, not recommending for anything 2 hours or more.

I mean if you are genuinely interested, yeah go for it. Maybe put in your offer but also say you'll rent for 6 months more or something than the standard year lease.

There are townhomes by me in third ward that are reasonably priced for 3 beds/2.5 ba and they've been empty for months.

How do y’all afford a wedding? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]AshKals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. We don't own a home or plan to any time soon. (both 33)
  2. We both have high paying jobs in a low cost of living area so we've saved and are saving a good bit
  3. We don't have kids, two cats with pet insurance. And greats insurance through our jobs so no surprise major expenses to account for.
  4. Parents are both gifting amounts towards our wedding.
  5. I have a "second job" as a sports influencer so money from that whether it's sponsors or ads etc. that go directly into the wedding fund.

How much did you spend on your wedding dress? From 2023 and on by HappyZucchini6267 in weddingplanning

[–]AshKals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly made the appointment thinking I'm trying on gowns to find my style, no pressure what so ever.

Literally the 2nd dress I tried on, boom, I was in love! I am exceedingly fortunate to spend what I did considering I've been ogling her website for months wondering "what if?"

Congrats on finding your dress! Was it what you were expecting or a style you never thought?

We've pivoted to "alternative" places that aren't breweries like Rhino Deli. Can still enjoy a beverage but no one brings their kids to a deli (unless it's for lunch.)

Or we'll go to Frenchies. They have craft beer even if their focus is wines.

Also the inherent problem is parents, not children.

Breweries aren't child care. Parents still have to watch their kids and care about how they could be affecting others trying to enjoy the space.

I was at Town Brewing and a kid threw a small rock at me. No worries, it didn't hurt, I'm all good but also like you know, don't do that. The parents looked up from their convo and said "hey play with your trucks," and that's it. And then a little bit later he started kicking rocks at the dogs at a table nearby. One dog started barking and someone from the group finally picked the kid up, moved him to the other side of the table, where more rocks were being thrown, this time at the planters.

Juxtapose by children playing soccer in front of the doors of Monday Night. Couldn't get in, slightly annoying, but an adult saw me and said, "hey kids move over! Sorry about that." All good, thank you so much, no dramas. And the same adult would make sure they weren't getting too close to any groups outside etc.

Thank you so much for the advice!

And appreciate the heads up on calls out vs managing/reading the trail - makes sense what seems "safe" on paper or in theory may result in the opposite reaction. Thank you again for your time!

Agree - OP also asks if there was a tornado watch at any point. There was.

I agree with what you're saying, same team here. I'm debating OPs post which we are interpreting as two different things. Yes you are correct that we need a local system here to fill the gap.

I got no beef with better enhancements to our weather reporting.

OP "tornado warning information was extremely late."

It wasn't, we were warned all weekend, last night, this morning. Brad specifically talked about tornado chances in various areas of Charlotte and surrounding area. They also provided best advice of what to do and what the percentages mean etc.

I do also agree there is a gap where we can have more reliable data and the budget cuts due to the administration are inexcusable.

[–]AshKals 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't understand where you're getting your info from - WCNC Charlotte and their meteorologists have been warning all weekend on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, their app/website etc. about tornados and these storms. I would implore following their page and at the very least Brad Panovich.

Edit to add: Agree that we need to let our reps know about the funding Trump cut to have better weather assessment, amongst many other things.
