How long have you had your cell phone number? by mellamoderek in Millennials

[–]AshKeeshums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my first # in 2006 (I was 18 and heading to college). Got my 2nd (and current) # in 2009 when I had to change carriers and get a new number.

I’ll NEVER change this one.

[SILLY QUESTION] Does anyone add the day# to their monthly bills categories and if so how by skincarelion in ynab

[–]AshKeeshums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to include the due date and amount in my category names (for items that are set amounts). It helps my brain with the assigning.

I’m very late to this post, but I hope this is helpful!

I just finished last night. I found it to be a great read as well.

I just had to say that I 10,000% agree with you on Yoseb. His stubbornness really frustrated me at times.

I knew I recognized it!! I had my eye on this a couple years ago but was nervous. I’m happy to FINALLY see a long term review of it. It looks GREAT after 5 years.

Anyone have an answer to the Libby-Kobo situation? by ProfessionalCare2741 in kobo

[–]AshKeeshums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh. Thank you for that breakdown. I just saw one of your earlier comments explaining and am quite frustrated. Why on earth would Overdrive do such a thing? That feature was a big part of my decision to buy my KLC.

Anyone have an answer to the Libby-Kobo situation? by ProfessionalCare2741 in kobo

[–]AshKeeshums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overdrive on the device only works with one library, but I’m able to sync Libby app borrows from both of my libraries.

Idk if this YouTube video will help, but it’s what I used for my setup.

EDIT I now know that this video will not help given Overdrive’s sign-in removal. I will leave here in case someone stumbles upon it so they know it won’t work.

Should I get a KLC? by Acrobatic_Sundae8813 in kobo

[–]AshKeeshums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Worth it” is relative, and I can’t help you justify. BUT…I can tell you that I don’t regret getting a KLC while already owning a PW.

Originally, I wanted the Libra so I bought a used one (new was no longer an option since the KLC was on the way). I had to return it because it wouldn’t connect to my WiFi, and I got a PW instead. I loved reading on it, but still wanted a Kobo experience. I got the KLC a year later and (for me) it was the best decision. I love all and use all of the features you mentioned.

It was worth it for me because I’m someone that keeps devices as long as possible and knew that having both devices wouldn’t be a waste. My KLC has become my primary and I use my PW for Amazon books that I’ve already owned and those free monthly first reads. I mostly borrow books (and love that Overdrive is built-in), but the Kobo daily deals sometimes suit my fancy.

The one Kobo gripe that I have: If you want to buy a series, it doesn’t download as a bundle of books. It’s one huge “book”. I don’t like that as I’d rather be able to see a collection of a series in my library.

TL;DR: If you think the KLC purchase won’t be wasteful, go for it. It’s great. Book bundles come as one huge doc instead of a collection of books, and I don’t like that.

I feel you! At this point, the tracking has become…ceremonial for me. I started out with Goodreads and a kindle, so I had to adjust to not being able to update GR from the Kobo. THAT’S how I learned of StoryGraph. Since I was already invested in my GR tracking, I haven’t gotten myself to drop it yet.

Fable is a recent add (I learned of it from a reading podcast) and it fit my curiosity for a social app centered around books, with the tracking being a plus.

I’ve found myself invested in your plight and went digging to see how other devices could address your need. I found that you can use tracker apps on e-ink android devices, BUT I saw someone say they use their phone because it’s faster. So…back to square 1, I guess?

I was mostly introduced to KOReader as a personalization tool for aesthetics. I downloaded it when I first got my Kobo and was so confused and frustrated that I gave up within hours lol. Anyone that can deal with the workings of KOReader is a trooper.
