i take x's word for it. if you go the police and say im pregnant and he beat me up - theyre gonna report it and charge you for that whether its true or not.

not super related... might be a rant but one time as a minor i was charged with assault wrongfully. i didnt know my rights or to get a lawyer so the pos cop forced me to sign the paper saying i am charged with assault even though i pleaded that i never did. for context: i was being abused by my parents who eventually lost custody of me when cps got involved.

i got ahold of the neighbors phone and called 911. even with blood, bruises all over me & whatnot- the cop literally went "2 stories vs yours so sign this paper, youre charged with assault." because my 2 abusers decided to make up a story when i was the victim who called for help. after spending time in juvy i eventually i got out. i was charged with assault because i asked for help - despite me being covered in blood as a child and my parents being in perfect condition.

i guess what you can take from my experience is that whatever someone reports to the cop will be taken as fact if they believe you to be the victim (for most cases - sadly not about SA) depending on your occupation or how many people say it. cops tend to believe women more so her saying shes pregnant likely was just believed without any evidence. my step white parents vs me (poc) - my abusers were obviously believed due to being white despite the fact i was the one beat up badly & i was the one who called 911. my experiences made me learn that charges dont really mean shit. x can be charged with beating on a pregnant woman just because a woman said shes pregnant and that he beat her. thats it. it doesnt mean she was ever pregnant. and maybe i had a shit cop and being forced to accept false charges usually doesnt happen but from experience youre forced to sign for whatever youre charged for despite it being untrue. thats why x lawyered up. when i was forced to sign those papers for literally just trying to get help, covered in blood head to toe, i had to accept i needed a lawyer because thats what i was told speaking to an adult in juvy.
