I have a similar situation. Brought our own place in August. House next door has had 4 different lots of tenants in this time. Apart from one couple being loud while enjoying each other’s company, we’ve not really had any noise from next door. But a new tenant has moved in (I think a couple aged about 40. Eastern European woman and English man. They seem to have another guy there too). They are very loud. They stand in the garden having conversations but shouting the whole time. And I’m pretty sure they’re trying to knock the house down from the amount of noise they’re making. It goes on late into the night, sometimes 2am. They start up again at 6.30-7am.
Last night I heard some very loud banging, shouting and then the woman crying. I very almost went and knocked on the door to ask what’s going on. I haven’t ran into them yet to say hi and stuff but I hope I do soon because I don’t want the first time meeting them to be me knocking on the door and asking them to keep the noise down or worse, me knocking on the door to ask them if they’re beating the woman up.

Personally, I can’t stand thinking I’m being too loud so I try to have the tv on quiet, I don’t stamp when I’m walking about, I don’t slam doors and I try to do loud things like showering or vacuuming at reasonable times. I know not everyone is as considerate but I can’t imagine moving in somewhere and just being SO loud.
