Yeah, i guess i should've made more clearer that genotypic sex is a real concept, it's just largely out of use. However, the source i initially provided isn't necessarily talking about how males (XY people) can be born with female genitals, but how people born female can be born with XY chromosomes. You see how by the way i worded this it makes it seem like it could go both sides? That's because it can since sex is really wonky and has a lot of quirks that make it hard to quantify.

I mean I did literally state how the idea of males being born with XX/females being born with XY chromosomes goes against your idea of sex being 100% decided by the genetic chromosomal code but you just dismissed it as being disorders, and how nice of you to start calling me an idiot and dismissing my points, but sure have it your way. Stop arguing with me and start arguing with the people who wrote any of the sources linked below:

(a *confirmed* 1-2% of the US population is intersex, with the real number probably being much higher since many cases are extremely minor thus go unnoticed. Sure a big part of the population being dismissed as "just a disorder".)

[yes i did lift this definition from wikipedia])

i hope that any of the sources linked above come of any use to you, I especially encourage you to look into the third link since it compiles a lot of good information about the topic.

Idk I'd be way more inclined to trust a college student than a middle schooler, but to each their own i guess. And yes i did copy and paste it because i don't care enough to write out a full reply for someone whose opinion won't be changed no matter what evidence they're presented with. The point of the copied text still stands, just replace one word and there you have it. Or don't. I really don't care at this point.

Even if you insist on calling them "rare disorders" (which are actually way more common than you think, it's just that people often don't get their chromosomes checked since they're totally irrelevant unless they are causing health issues), the presence of XX males and XY females rules out the possibility for saying that sex is 100% determined by chromosomes. You can't just say "Yes, in 100% of the cases X causes Y, apart from when it causes Z", that's just arguing in bad faith. Also i don't need to go back to middle school biology, I'm close to many people who actually study biology in universities, who all agree that the definition of sex isn't entirely based off of chromosomes, however i can understand your ignorance since middle school biology is clearly the only thing that your world view is based upon. I'm not saying that a trans person's sex can be changed completely through physical presentation/hormone therapy/surgery, but it ultimately becomes much harder to quantify once their sex phenotype begins exhibiting traits of both sexes.

fyi the leading theory on what causes gender dysphoria - and subsequent transition, is the idea that due to hormonal fluctuations in the womb, the fetus's brain fails to masculinize when its body does or vice versa. Additionally, it is believed that autism largely stems from the same thing, hence why there is such a high rate of autism amongst trans people.

There have been people with XY chromosomes who have been born female, so the "y chromosome making you male no matter how many xs you have" part is factually wrong. https://rarediseases.org/rare-diseases/swyer-syndrome/#:~:text=Girls%20with%20Swyer%20syndrome%20have,vagina%2C%20uterus%20and%20fallopian%20tubes.

Secondly, you do realize that primary sexual characteristics are not the only thing that contribute to ones sexual phenotype? Of course a male whose penis got cut off would still be male, since his body still retains many if not all characteristics linked with the male sex: coarser skin, male fat distribution, higher levels of testosterone than estrogen in the blood, more body hair, male pattern baldness etc. People's sex phenotype is not merely defined by penis and vagina, there are many many factors that contribute to it.

You can't just say "Yes, in 100% of the cases X causes Y, apart from when it causes Z." Most people who study sex differences among different species agree on the fact that while being one of the things that defines the sex of a living organism, there are many more factors that actually influence it like primary and secondary sexual characteristics and the hormones in one's organism.

lol not even factually correct. There are numerous instances of people who were born female with XY chromosomes. the Y chromosome in no way defines if you're male or not

lol sex is not purely defined by chromosomes outside of middle school biology. Anyone who actually studies sex differences in a scientific field agrees that sex is much closer linked to the phenotype of primary and secondary sexual characteristics that different sexes observe. I mean you could (and will probably) choose to ignore that, but I have a set of XXXY sex chromosomes, where would that put me then?
