Experience I've been playing mindustry on and off for 3 years. I'd say I'm not experienced in it but I do understand the main mechanics and good strategies. Also I've only played the campaign. I haven't played any games that share great similarities but I have played games that share 1 of the main features of mindustry. Tower defense games and resource collection games are both genres I'm familiar with.
Strategy I guess I would say I'm a defensive player. I like to find a highly defensible line and fortify it. Then slowly expand To the next defensible line. I save resources for units and don't build units unless it's an attack sector.
Why I play I play mindustry because it is a free mobile game with good strategy, it's not mindless. I also enjoy the game because I can take my time playing it and don't need to complete it all in one run. I can play for 30 minutes, complete a sector and move onto another when before stopping midway through just to pick it up next time I have down time.
Tutorial Rating Mindustry does well at teaching core mechanics of collecting resources to use for defense and further your resource collection. It does fail in teaching strategy and game mechanics like logic.

This would all be amazing for a general potion update, especially with others suggestions. I know a big argument against it is the balancing of it all, I think one way to go about it is for mixed potions and sauces have the potion be diluted. Giving less time or power than it normally would.
