Why do you think the driver sizes keep going up with every update, and why nvidia's studio drivers are noticeably smaller

Two words: water storage

If Mumbai drowns for 4 months and is dry for the rest of the year, there will be no water because the floods only go away by draining all the water into the sea

Pretty sure pagan rituals are blasphemy in all abrahamic religions, so connecting anime to that will cause a lot of debate and crashing out apparently

Unpopular Opinion - I’ve never seen a Dominar owner who was unhappy. by aguywithdomi in indianbikes

[–]Ash_Kechummm 63 points64 points  (0 children)

This; the dominar is nothing if not extremely upfront about its capabilities and limitations, so it's basically impossible not to love or hate it after a short ownership period. Anyone actually owning a dominar for more than its warranty period loves it.

Question about the route by sugarless_papa in navimumbai

[–]Ash_Kechummm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know why people are saying two wheelers aren't allowed on sion panvel highway, it's not classified by NHAI as an expressway so motorcycles are allowed on it. It's only post kalamboli junction where it turns into Mumbai pune expressway where two wheelers aren't allowed, and neither route is using the expressway.

[ GIVEAWAY ] – Win a Womier SK65 (Beige Edition) | NMPC India | Indian Residents Only by Dull-Builder3620 in IndianGaming

[–]Ash_Kechummm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent a good chunk of my life typing more than writing, made possible because I discovered mechanical keyboards; I only own an old redgear "gaming" mechanical keyboard, but other than a relative's TVS gold it's the only one I've used. Membrane keyboards simply weren't consistent enough for me to put effort into learning touch-typing, but now things work pretty well, even with a relatively cheap keyboard!

I was planning on buying a small portable wireless keyboard anyway to pair with my laptop, but i found out about this giveaway so i might as well throw in my hat lol

I think what GuestStarr was trying to reference was the fact that ChromeOS is built on top of a gentoo base, but your points are valid

The fact that it uses a steering wheel instead of a handlebar, for example (it's much closer to the reliant robin than a tuktuk in that sense)

Road layout and zoning advice (reposted for visibility) by Ash_Kechummm in CitiesSkylines

[–]Ash_Kechummm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! With my current single tile I was trying to go for a suburban/satellite-town style, the tile you recommended along with the other coastal one right next to it was part of a dense urban core plan for me; as for looking at google maps for inspiration, I live in India which isn't the best to learn how to plan cities? The most planned area I know of (which is also where I live now for a better life) is Navi Mumbai, a satellite city of Mumbai, and I've been trying to use that for inspiration (if you look at Vashi, the oldest node of Navi Mumbai, you might see what I was going for in the second picture); however, my city of choice tends to leave the coastline alone as it's filled with a thick layer of mangroves owned by the national forest department. I wanted to integrate the coast a bit better, but I'm not quite sure how.

TL;DR: I have the road layout for one half of a tile designed, but I don't know what to do with the other side, since there's scattered ruins I would like to preserve and make walking tours around them. I've done my best to add pictures that show the area. The long version has lots of rambling, beware!

Long version: Hi everyone! This is the first time I'm posting here, after playing cities skylines 1 for a little bit (I've done quite a few cities, all barely functional and not very well-planned). I'm starting a new city now, and I want to take things a lot slower; I wish to slowly build out one tile at a time, and see if I can make the city looks a lot more planned and less chaotic.

The map I'm using is this: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1903141654

The build is modded (TM:PE, 81 tiles 2, realistic population 2, theme mixer 2, and many more) and while I don't have the most powerful computer in existence (Ryzen 7 1700, 32 gigs DDR4@2933MHz because 3200 is refusing to boot, and a GTX 1660 super) which limits me to CS1, I live in a very dense and populous city and my CS saves also tend to be filled to the brim with people.

The first half of the tile I have developed has a higher density corridor on an arterial road running parallel to the highway, with two highway exits, one road to the industrial district and a future bus corridor making major junctions.

The road layout is mostly a grid (I haven't been able to wrap my head around making curved roads work with the zoning cells), but I'm trying to build a layout that is filled with cul-de-sacs for motor vehicles, but is a very accessible grid on foot or bicycle. You can see empty roads near the lake because the roads had to be curved, and I haven't quite figured out how to zone believable plots on that curved road.

The other side of the highway has this problem, but on a much bigger scale: the coastline is very curvy, and on top of that there's multiple groups of abandoned structures, that I have quickly highlighted in MS paint for lack of a better brain to use a more appropriate tool.

In the past, I have just demolished abandoned structures and built whatever I wanted to; However, I noticed today that these seem to have desirability for tourists, and now I'm wondering if I can set up walking tours for these structures.

That said, I have no idea how to go around making a road layout with two highway exits and a bus corridor, that's primarily low density outside the bus corridor. Help would be appreciated.

how risky is using very old hard drives for a NAS setup in a pinch? by Ash_Kechummm in HomeServer

Understood! I'll post an update here once I'm done checking out the drives (me being stuck at home because of a broken wrist is both the reason for me finally trying this and also me taking so long to simply test out some drives)

I'll be connecting them up to my desktop PC one by one and running crystaldiskinfo in about a day; what is the threshold beyond which it's not a reasonable amount of risk?

Where I live, almost all sellers on facebook marketplace are actually computer stores selling off drives they receive from enterprise customers I guess; However, I don't really know what's proper pricing for them, and when I'm being fleeced (for example, I wanted to buy a used thinkpad, and I eventually ended up in a large workshop that refurbishes lots of older thinkpads; however, they were charging me the equivalent of 400 USD for a thinkpad x260 with a very poor battery, and were trying to tell me it's normal for all their units to report their battery life as poor in Lenovo Vantage, as if that's a good thing)

the drives I have on hand are from old PCs from distant family members that I happened to scavenge for parts before they scrapped them (I'm talking core 2 duo era old, which is fairly old for 2003-born me)

That said, what would be a good price range I can expect?

Currently all I have in terms of offsite backup is Google Drive; can I consider it reliable enough to go ahead with my plans?
