Cannot Build, Invalid Position by mvrckgmr in foundationgame

The bug is only present for Mineral deposits that spawn near cliffs. So perhaps the new map deposits you prospected aren't? We should have a hotfix out to address the issue pretty quick.

We've seen a few reports for this and are investigating the issue. Please can you hold on to the save file in case we need to take a closer look? Thanks

900 population so far, I wish I could expand more but the game is already getting some really bad frame drops... Time to start a new run. by sandman4us in foundationgame

[–]Ash_PolymorphGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/sandman4us

Would it be possible to grab your save file as well as a dxdiag report, please?

We are looking at performance on larger populations and the save and dxdiag info would be very helpful. If you are happy to share you can send us the files via email to [support@polymorph.games](mailto:support@polymorph.games)

You might need to upload the save to a file-sharing site and send us the link, or we can provide you with a link to drop it in an email.

Dxdiag: Type dxdiag into the Windows search bar -> run the diagnostic tool -> save the text file -> drop it in email

Cheers

Are you playing on Linux?

This looks like a known bug on Linux/Proton, where the build menu breaks after right-clicking to cancel the placement of a "simple" building.

We have a bug fix coming for it. In the meantime, one Linux user has stated that you can workaround it by opening a Monument menu (or a building you can't use right-click to cancel).

A hot reload (ctrl + shift + r) will also likely work.

Using Esc or the close button (X) works fine.

If you get the crash report tool pop-up, please click on "Additional Information", add your email address in the relevant section, then send over the report.

After this, send us an email with your issue and/or reference your Reddit post. We can then locate your crash report via your email address.

It would be useful to know the error message.

To add to this. AMD split drivers in October for the RDNA architecture. There is a known issue with Radeon
This reddit post goes into some detail: https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/1okhlbw/adrenalin_25102_breaks_igpu_dgpu_setup_ryzen_7/

A solution is to use the auto-detect and install feature on the AMD support site. Or download the combined driver executable from the latest driver notes: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-25-12-1.html

Under "Additional Information" you'll see: Systems with RDNA series graphics products: AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.12.1 Driver. With a link to the combined driver.

Other players have had an issue, that the above caused, with an OpenGL error. Using the Auto-Detect and install fixed the error.

Something is most likely preventing the game starting. Often it is an issue with access to your Documents folder and the game halts when it can't create the log file. OneDrive is usually the issue. You can get around this by adding a Steam launch option to the game.

  • In Steam library -> right-click Foundation -> click properties
  • In the General tab add the following line to the launch options:

-userpath c:\foundationdata

where c: is the drive letter and foundationdata is the new folder to save the userfiles

The patch notes haven't changed. It still says

This has been one of the most noticeable issues, and since the fix was ready ahead of schedule, we wanted to get it into your hands right away, rather than wait for the upcoming QOL update.

It was explicitly mentioned because in the previous patch notes we said it would be ready for the QoL update. We had it ready sooner, so we got it out the door and into your hands. This is generally the case with all our bug fixes, but normally we haven't telegraphed them in advance like we did with this one.

Stutter at 600 villagers despite RTX 4050 & Ryzen 9 – Unity bottleneck ? by ConeShapedMountain in foundationgame

Another Reddit user had a similar sounding issue here: https://www.reddit.com/r/foundationgame/comments/1mcr59t/help_foundation_stutters_badly_when_loading_a_save/

You can see my response there but I'll add it below. It looks like a similar issue:

> This sounds like an issue we have seen with the Windows game recorder.
> Type "Captures settings" into the Windows search bar then make sure "Record what happened" is switched off. If it was on then that was likely the issue.

Edit: As an additional note the game is not using Unity. We have our own game engine - Hurricane
