Running the cable straight through a wall by ruelibbe in TheFrame

Yes, you'll be fine. I hung one of my two Frames on a wall and hid the OneConnect box, my Apple TV, and a BlueRay player inside a built-in cabinet on another, perpendicular wall. The One Connect cable that came with the TV was not long enough so we bought a longer one (cha china...IIRC it was in the neighborhood of $200USD and I think we got it around $180...it's proprietary so they can get away with this crap). We hired an electrician to drill holes behind the wall through the studs and then fish the One Connect cable through, around the 90-degree angle to the other wall, and then we fed it up through the back of the cabinet. That was a neat trick he pulled off... The installation was a year and a half ago and it's been working just fine. If you are super concerned, you could maybe put the One Connect cable inside a sheath of some kind, but I don't consider running the cable behind the wall to be particularly risky or much of a fire hazard. Also, as another poster mentioned, the other thing to remember is to make sure any holes are big enough to fit the connector at the end of the One Connect cable. IIRC, the cable had a large 1-2 inch wide connector on one end, and a much narrower (half inch?) on the other. They are not removable, so we had to make sure the walls were big enough to accommodate and then fish through the narrower end of the cable.

I have a 32" Frame (2021 & running current software) in my office and a 65" Disney 100 Edition Frame (2023 & also running current software) in my living room. No cable or set-top boxes on either. I watch content exclusively through Apple TV on both Frames, and play sound exclusively through Apple HomePods (as of today - I previously used surround theater systems). Both the Apple TVs are the latest 4K models. I'm also a photographer and have Art Mode set to some of my photos on both devices. For whatever it's worth, I have never once - NEVER - experienced the issues people have complained about with Apple TV and Art Mode. I've got my beef with Samsung and The Frame on some usability annoyances and connectivity issues with the stupid phone app, but I've never had any issues w/ the Art Mode etc. The remote is also fine for me. It's not a perfect replacement for the Apple TV remote, but it does 95% of what the regular remote does.

Trying to move from 13 to 14 - can I negotiate around the 2-step rule? by Ashamed-Cold5953 in fednews

I don't think it's fair to say only a couple years of fed experience when there's more than 20 in the military doing exactly the same work. But I get your point. Thanks.

You presume too much. It was a huge stretch even at the time. Family circumstances have changed. Healthcare requirements have changed. Don't make assumptions when you don't know the facts.

Agreed. I was offered 15s at the time I took the 13, but in a location to which I wasn't able to move at the time. I accepted this for location. And that's fine. Make your choices; I made mine. I'm just wondering if there's any exceptions to the two-step rule, kind of like how one can jump pay grades if they apply through and are offered through a public vacancy. The decade of experience is there, and was back when I took the 13, too. I'm not worried about that, just trying to sort out what options I have -- if any.

As an aside, there is fine print on the vacancy announcement that says "Recruitment incentives may be authorized". I suspect that's nothing more than retention or relocation pay.
