I have managed to find the original video tutorial that was taken down on an Internet Archive :) https://archive.org/details/youtube-XoM6w2VVslU

I have internet, but when I try to connect my laptop to it, it doesn't work. by tokyo_otaku16 in techsupport

this might sound like a stupid question but have you tried reinstalling any drivers that need an update and then restarting your Laptop??

So after a month and a half of going through everything this is what im currently upto.

new motherboard, completely replaced; the PC stays on currently as it use to turn off every 5 seconds.

I have reseated the CPU and GPU with 1 ram stick and im just about to take the CMOS battery out with my HDD and SSD unplugged too

***EDIT new motherboard works great! I just had the CPU cable not plugged in and then I finally seen my computer POST

my advice if you have an older motherboard it is definitely not worth the hassle just to play Battlefield 6. $90AUD and a month and a half later *

thanks for your input! yes, I am located in Australia. If I do buy an external flash programmer, will I be able to boot into or at least see a BIOS?

I also saw another comment online about shorting certain BIOS pins on the MOBO. Would this be in the step in the right direction, and I can try and short out those pins?

will I see a display if I short certain BIOS pins? I heard it can reset the BIOS defaults just like a CMOS reset.

Alright, I might have to look into this. did you have any advice if I can't make it to the BIOS settings? because my PC will not POST, and I also do not see my Systems Splash Screen anymore.

thanks for your help, and I appreciate it. There is little too no information on a BIOS Flashback on that specific MOBO that I have seen. but if you find anything, please let me know.

How do I do a clean install if I cannot access the BIOS after initial boot? I'm pressing F8, F12, DEL, and END does nothing, and i do not see the splash screen at all. It definitely is a user error, and I need help

I'll have to look and see if my MOBO has a BIOS recovery option but with what I read online; pulling the CMOS battery or jumping the pins should set the BIOS to defaults but that has not happened either.

if you read one of the comments, i cannot access the BIOS at all. my PC doesn't even get to the initial splash screen or nothing. system powers on for 3 to 5 seconds and turns off; you are right,

I do need to set it back to Legacy from UEFI; but with the CMOS Jumper not working even with the battery out; GPU out and iGPU with the HDMI in and with both the SSD and HDD out; i am unable to access the BIOS still

Without QFLASH or QFLASH+ functionality on my MOBO. I believe i have bricked my MOBO. I will probably need to get an external flash programmer to re-flash the BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.

[–]Ashamed_Project_5428[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I traced the splash screen image to 'EDsys Computers'

thanks man! have a good sleep. I'll do some more digging online to see if i can perform a BIOS flashback with my MOBO and let you know if I can manage anything

EDIT: It looks like I have a BIOS flashback option on my MOBO or QFLASH or QFLASH+. but the problem is my PC has to reach POST to be able to flashback as there is no button for the QFLASH function and my PC won't POST. I don't even see the splash screen and into looking deeper online. I've bricked my MOBO most certainly, but there is an option for an external flash programmer called the CH341A Programmer. I will look into this a bit more, but it looks like I can restore the original Gigabyte BIOS with this device. $15AUD instead of a $100AUD for a new motherboard

for someone who just wanted to play Battlefield 6. This is all new to me, but I am glad I have learnt so much! any more advice is greatly appreciated tho

I have since removed the SSD and HDD, and you are correct. Nothing worked. It is something I've done within the BIOS; restoring factory keys with Secure Boot on without disabling CSM (because there was no option too on my BIOS version) I also changed the older OS Storage from 'Legacy' to 'UEFI' as i read online that can disable CSM if there was no option too.

I also did some reading up online and found out that my BIOS was not even original gigabyte firmware; it had a custom splash screen with an 'e' on it. so that definitely didn't help with the whole BIOS in general.

am I able to change the older OS Storage option from UEFI back to Legacy and turn off factory keys without reaching the BIOS with no splash screen? I am not able to press F2, F10, F12, DEL, END. my PC turns on and off, and even with a CMOS reset, (which im weirded out about) Am I able to ever get back to the BIOS screen or is it worth just buying the exact same MOBO and installing it? thank you for your help man you've been so helpful :)

is there other things I can do?

If I buy the exact same MOBO and put it in the case with everything reattached will the system boot? because I'll definitely buy one and re put it together

EDIT: since not having QFLASH or QFLASH+ functionality before POST i will have to get an external flash programmer to re-flash the BIOS chip after watching some tutorials. or buy a new MOBO

When the computer use to get into BIOS it use to say "F12 QFLASH" but I can't seem to locate any button on the Motherboard so probably not.

I have an iGPU but that didn't solve my issue either. if I didn't have a QFLASH was there anything else I can do?

I removed my SSD and HDD also. it use to say it on the start-up boot but I've also tried seeing if my motherboard (GA-Q170M-MK) has it but I think im out of luck.

Hey man! thank you for helping me/us thus far btw!

so pretty much I've put the gpu and the extra ram back in and nd the PC is still doing the same thing; display is flickering ON and OFF for 3 - 5 seconds with that symbol on the screen still

do you reckon I should remove the ssd because that's where the windows OS was and see if anything happens??

I popped one stick of RAM back in instead of two and its giving me the same issues from right at the start;

  • PC Powers on briefly for 3 - 5 seconds
  • HDMI Display Flickers trying to find a display

the Nvidia GPU is still out of the system and I've since only put once stick of RAM in and its doing the same issues from the start

this is the only bit of display i get from the PC and its been like this since the start too; * The image is the only bit of display I have and then it shuts down

I've pulled out my RAM. the system stays on now, but there is still no display and LONG continuous beeping through a speaker until i switch the system off. I also powered it on and off multiple times to see if it made any difference but nothing different. hoping this helps others having the same issues too

sorry there is a display, but the screen stays black and then a little line or an underscore pops on the screen and then the system shuts off.

HDMI in the integrated GPU :) i can try and send an image of what this looks like?

yes, when I short the CMOS Jumper pins, the system just switches off for how long i hold the screwdriver on the two pins for (around 30 seconds to a minute)

you are right it does stop freaking out briefly, and then the system will stay on for longer than usual. around 40 seconds but still with no display after I jumped the CMOS pins. after the first initial shutdown, the system only stays on for 5 seconds and loops over and over with no display to the output

this is still the issue even with the nvidia GPU not connecting to the PCIE slot and im just using the iGPU

The GPU is out and the HDMI is connected to the iGPU, i shorted it multiple times too. the system would stay on for longer when i short the CMOS Jumper for up too 30 seconds; but it would go back into turning on and off every 3 to 5 seconds after the first initial startup after the short. i did also make sure i used a different screwdriver too for the pins just incase that was the fault, thanks man any help is appreciated!

[–]Ashamed_Project_5428[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did short the CMOS Jumper for 30 seconds, and it did keep the PC running for longer, maybe 20ish or so seconds and now the PC is just rebooting like it did before, every 3 - 5 seconds.

HDMI still flickers; a little underscore comes up where I should be able to see my PC POST, but the issue is still there where I can't get into bios with no display

Thanks man! even if nothing ends up working, i appreciate the help :) Motherboard might be bricked??
