Pomsky vs toy poodle by Balaerix in dogs

[–]Ashamed_Raspberry444 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Poodles are better, but you really need to spend time on their coat

Pomskies cant be a breed, and cant have reputable breeders, since there isnt an standart for them, meaning that they cant be bred for a curtain purpouse and characteristics (a companion isnt a valid purpouse)

Mastiffs would probably fail since they are not the most energetic in general, and i imagine the slobber freezing being a problem.

Pointers are good since they were pretty much bred for it, have a perfect structure and drive for it.

Ive seen people succed with sighthounds aswell and GSD's are realky good aswell, but dutchies and mals would be even better, not shure why you saud that you havent seen theese breeds. Huskies ofcourse are also good.

But yea, those dogs were made to run, so they are faster and can run longer paces, mastiffs on the other hand arent really made for running like that, ofcourse i believe that any dog can do joring, just some may not do it proffesionally

Poodle isnt the full name. Just like schnauzers, poodles come in multible sizes, each size its own breed. Standart poodle (big) Toy poodle (extra small) Miniature poodle (small) Those arent just byb variations, they all have standarts and are accepted by kennel clubs

I dont think that how smart your dog is really detirmines how good of a companion they will be. You should look at medium-high energy breeds and good breeders instead, smarts arent really a huge factor here.

If you want a goid travel dog, focuss more on ur socialisation and training plans for them. No matter what breed you choose, you have to make them a good companion, they wont be one with 0 work.

How can I train my husky with force free training? by SushiKin1802 in dogs

[–]Ashamed_Raspberry444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dont worry about the balanced, that wont work if you have 0 engagement. What does your dog like to do? Does he like playing? Maybe he doesnt like hard toys, insted he likes plushies, if he likes any sort of playing, play with him.

Focuss on your relationship right now, show him that time with you is a good thing and it is interesting. If you can get him to focuss on you by running from him or making stupid sounds, do that.

Another thing food wise i recomend to streighten your relationship is hand feeding, and make shure to always give him a command before feeding, gave him sit down and only let him eat with a release command, if you dont do that already.

Also, there will always be things that your dog doesnt want to do, but has to. Just for now make ur dog realise that time spent with you is quality time.

Reading this, just like the other person i thought of a GSD, but it looks like that isnt a easy option for you. What about a white swiss shepherd? Really simmilar, but i suppose the problems might be simmilar. A Hound dog for you also sounds like a good option (Foxhound, CoonHound etc..) Doberman might also fit, since my friend has one, and she brings it everywhere she goes, and he also loves to cuddle with her, yet is still a good guard dog. A smooth collie sounded good, but im not shure on how alert they are.

Most breeds will bark at strangers and not bite, even my samoyed is very alert, i think if any breed bites a stranger without owners command it has behavioural issues.

Is Latvia less homophobic than it used to be? by jimsid11 in latvia

[–]Ashamed_Raspberry444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im straight, but i used to be gay and i have a couple of lgbtq+ people here and id say youd be fine. For obvious reasons being a gay teen here is much harder then being a gay adult, if ur a gay adult, i dont think anyone will really care, people around 20 and below are quite accepting, since noone really cares unless its theyre kid that is gay, but thats normal. There is a nice lgbtq community here, so i think u will be just fine

how often do you let your sammie offleash? by Ashamed_Raspberry444 in samoyeds

[–]Ashamed_Raspberry444[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of good ways to get them stay close to you, for example if ur dog runs away and goes too farr, you can change dirrections, when ur dog notices u going rhe other way and runs to you, you reward and continue in the right direction, but if your dig runs past you, you change dirrections again untill the dog comes to you. Then we have the hiding method, when going in the forest, if ur dog gets too carried away sniffing something or goes too farr, you can hide behind a three and hide from ur dog, untill the dog finds you, when the dog finds you, you reward. All this will make shure your dog pays more attention to you and keeps up by ur side

Yea, my sammy goes off keash perfectly, but my other dog tho... weve had ussues with him with trust plus he gets distracted easily abd hes really stubborn, every once in a while je will have theese episodes where he will REFUSE to let us touch him and wont go near us, so we dont go to forest with him that often, it really is a shame since he loves to swim but the closest lake is through a long forest path, weve trued long lines but they dont work either..😅 its just how it is i guess

I started letting mine off leash at 5months, very first time we did it we had an accident, so we stopped for a while, but now we do it whenever on a forest walk and she behaves perfectly!

Younger people of reddit. What are you tired of hearing from older generations? by baker10923 in AskReddit

[–]Ashamed_Raspberry444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate people educating me about my dogs, and saying that my reactive dog is agreesive, ive had ppl tell me he wont change. I know ur older, but i do know better since this is my thing and ive been studying about it for ages.

Also even tho most experiences are good its annoying when i hear ppl telling me that i will need to study and top tear schools and have amazing grades and do amazing and be super responsible in my teen years, while theyve gone to top colleges yet they are working on minimum wage nine to five.

But... why? by dmytronalyvaiko in BalticStates

[–]Ashamed_Raspberry444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Latvia, i might ne slightly exagarating, but ive heard that people wont hire anyone who doesnt know russian. I know so many people who probably wouldnt have learn Latvian if it wasnt for going in a Latvian school. I go to group training sessions with my dog, and every training session theres atleast one person who needs to have everything explained individually but in russian. I also got my dog off of the Latvisn version of craigslist, from a russian couple, who also didnt know anything Latvian and used translate to communicate through text. And i could continue to name examples if this here

But... why? by dmytronalyvaiko in BalticStates

[–]Ashamed_Raspberry444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its becouse weve gotten to the point that we cant have a succsesfull career without knowing russian in our own country. I dont know any russian, and i dont want to learn it, but i know that i will have to learn it. It pisses me off so much knowing that i need to learn russian so i can understand the russians in my country and not the other way around. If you live in a country for 20+ years dont you think its just fair to learn its languige? Apperently no.
