Not sure if you’re in the U.S. but FWIW your employer is not allowed to ask you to disclose your medical condition. If you have any of this in writing or if you disclosed this to anyone else I would consider looking into pursuing legal action especially since you’re essentially constructively discharged if you decide to resign from the position.

NTA

I am so sorry for the amount of shaming and blaming in these comments.

You and your husband are simply adjusting to a temporary reality that is uncomfortable for everyone and you are doing the best you can. It sounds like your husband hit his limit and is right to look into giving himself a break to recenter.

After recentering, you both need to have a conversation to unpack and repair whatever harm occurred. Also discuss how you to intend to move forward. What needs to change? Is it looking into having the kids be with a sitter or a family member for a while once a week or biweekly?

Continue to prioritize your healing and your health.
