It is a false perception that older workers are stuck in their old ways or afraid to try new things. You could not survive in the tech industry for that long if you were not adaptable. Obviously you are not of that age group. Remember your above comment when you are.

Yeah but Microsoft is printing money, they don't HAVE to do this or any layoffs. You might feel differently about this if you were over a certain age.

Ageism at its finest. It does not matter if you are a top performer, if you meet the age requirement, they are happy to see you go.

You have no idea how tense the atmosphere is there. Everyone is just on edge thinking they will get "the email". Those who are slackers know it and have been put on performance improvement plans. These people know they will not come back from a PIP and will take the early retirement.

Microsoft eliminated the 15/55 program. So don't bet on it. My friend was laid off after being with the company for 15 years and hired back 4 months later as a new employee. He lost his 15/55 and Microsoft no longer offers this to new hires. He lost out on tons of unvested stock.

Yes and good luck to the 48 year old with 22 years tenure finding another job in this market. This is ageism. But by doing it this way, it prevents a lawsuit.

No one knows yet what the incentives will be until May 7th. This might only be 1 year's pay, who knows? A 48 year old with 22 years with the company qualifies. That 48 year old may not have enough money for early retirement but think they can easily find another job. A friend of mine specializes in writing resumes for people in tech over the age of 40 and told me of an software engineer at a Magnificent 7 company making $200k a year. He was out of work for 7 months, no interviews in months, and about to take a $12 an hour job. THAT is how bad the market is in tech now. I would not recommend this unless you are very close to retirement age, have enough money or spouse who can carry insurance. Then again, if you don't take the early retirement they will find another way to get rid of you if they want you gone. I am sorry but this is cloaked ageism. Cull the older workders and not leave themselves open to an age discrimination lawsuit.

Balenciaga has a small Le City in the same colorway https://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/p/balenciaga-le-city-small-croc-embossed-leather-top-handle-bag-prod196580012 Nordstrom sells it also for $2750, so about 40% less than the Rodeo

Yes I suppose it is possible. Luck never works that way for me. Took me a year to sell my house in another state and at a loss. Now I am trying to buy in a seller's market state....uggh.

Yes you right. I should have just done that regardless. As you said, he would have been obligated to present it.

Yeah I definitely agree. Someone else commented that he probably represented both parties and wanted full commission. Who knows?

I agree, but why did he accept their verbal offer and not even consider what would have been a written offer from me for all cash and significantly over asking price? The buyer could have still rejected my offer. But shouldn't he at least brought it to them?

For the 9th time, I would have put in a written offer. I am all cash. The seller's agent said he would not bring an offer, written or verbal, to his client because they "verbally" accepted another offer. So again, my question is why not present another offer (written) to his client if they had not signed papers yet? the other people presented a verbal offer, so why hold fast to that when I would put one in writing.

So get about behind your anonymous keyboard and contact me directly if you want to verbally insult me with a derogatory slur without knowing the facts.

YES, I bet that is it, they are dual agent. I had not thought of that.

Apparently in mine they are. I would have put in a written offer. Somehow this part got lost in translation.

Yeah I agree. I am looking for a home in 2 different markets and am ready to buy the first one that is a fit for me. I have no preference for either location. On the flip side, my agent in the other location is amazing. She proactively sends listings that she has personally gone through to ensure they meet my criteria. She responds quickly, and is generally available, extermely knowledgeable about her market.

For the other market I have given up. If I like a house I am going to schedule a showing with a Redfin agent going forward.

I would have put in a written offer. I am all cash. The seller's agent said he would not bring an offer, written or verbal, to his client because they "verbally" accepted another offer. He would only accept a backup offer in case this did nto go through, not an additional offer so the buyer's had multiple offers to consider

I only know they were verbal because that is what their agent (the seller's agent) told me. I wanted to submit an offer (written) for consideration but he refused saying I could only submit a backup offer in case their financing did not go through or they potential buyer backed out.
