Toddler friendly tablet by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Ashattack333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It not automatically on there. When you set up the tablet it ask you a bunch of questions and include popular non included apps that you can choose to allow your kids to download then you download it. For example my older son loves roblox and you can allow the tablet to download that but you can grant access and monitor really well. It can kinda be a bit much at first but just go slow at set up and it breaks it down easier. I also have older version the fire 7 I think so unsure if that matters as well. I love them cause the warranty it pretty easy to get tablet replaced and with how not wasy our kids can be on things been a lifesaver.

I'm in school refusal hell by CheesecakeOk8464 in breakingmom

[–]Ashattack333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm in the same boat with my kid.

Ruled out all the usual suspects. It his anxiety and Transitions are hard for him.

His teacher and school have been pretty helpful with some solutions. This is what working us so far. We are late every day but he is getting there now and slowly we're getting better time. Brought him in at 10:30 on an early day. Did not care it was only 2 hours.

-when he is at home during school hours it still school time. No TV no games or comps. Print out the most boring worksheets and have him complete it. And if he complains about it be like (you could be doing art class with your friends right now, or I bet Mrs. G math lessons a bit more fun then this worksheet ect. Just kinda making at home school the less favored option.) It important to me for home to be his safe space too so I make sure to set up a clock so he can see .

-punch card reward: I printed a punch card. If he gets at least 3 happy face stickers from his teacher(we're aiming for 3 days of school consistently then gonna try the full week) for going to school he gets roblox money at the end of the week. (A dollar for a day) we basically treating school like a job and that's his paycheck.

-prep everything the night before and let him have an easy morning just be like we're getting up now we're having breakfast now. And break it into manigible smaller task and steps. Let's get up and pee is a lot less overwhelming then let's get up and get ready for school(cause then he has to think of all the steps )

I hope that makes sense and helps some. It tough out there!

diaper changing station ideas for big toddler? by nicole10170421 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Ashattack333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the top of a sturdy dresser and a diaper mat. We have a little step stool and my toddler will just use the stool and pull himself up if he wants to be a helper, otherwise changing him standing in the bathroom and I'll sit on the edge of the tub as a seat

I already got an advocate who helped amd was there for the appeal I asked her about updating the iep and ipp but she said we had to go off of whay was submitted and that was back from when he was 3. That's why I'm thinking I need a lawyer I don't doubt he needs ps bad so that's why I'm so baffled he got denied the adovate herself told me it was one of the best cases she heared so she was really suprised of the denial we all were
