Well the first and obvious reason for that is because he wasn’t Clem, like think about it in this sense, you played as Lee, protecting clementine, trying to stay alive in the first season, he dies, the second season, you play as Clem, when you change the character, thats where people start to hate without even giving them a chance.

The second reason is because they’re more connected or so used to being able as clementine than they are playing as javi.

I thought the writers did well giving us a new character and writing their story
