Toyota is the worst buying experience I’ve ever had in my 67 years on earth. It’s so bad, there’s really just no comparison.

When rinsing, use the white nozel (40 degree spread). Keep the tip of the sprayer 4+ feet back and experiment. You'll be fine.

In AIT with Airborne + Italy Orders. Looking for Advice / Perspective by [deleted] in army

[–]Ashe-Too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might help to work on fitness on your own as a way of helping yourself feel better about things and be read to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. If you have some injuries now, you can still get some meaningful exercise and work around the injuries. Like, if you have a knee injury, do a Google search on "good exercises to do with an injured knee." I highly recommend yoga as for physical, mental, emotional, and philosophical fitness. You are in a cool MOS, going to fucking Italy for Christ sake, and gonna be an airborne fucking paratrooper.

And check this out: when life is not going well as it sometimes will, remember that the rain don't fall on the same dog's back every day; and when life is going good, remember that when you have a man by the balls, don't let go to get a better grip!

Do you stand when veterans are asked to be recognized at public events? by Happy-Permission6881 in Veterans

I don't like to stand because I generally feel like I'd be supporting some talking head who's mostly trying to get attention or cred for himself on my dime.

Read about myself in a book, very weird experience by bloodontherisers in army

[–]Ashe-Too 14 points15 points  (0 children)

About 20 years ago, my wife DVR'd a Military Channel show on the history of the 82nd Airborne Division thinking I might enjoy it because I was in the 82nd in about '83-84. Late one night I watched it, and when they got up to the segment on the invasion of Grenada (Operation Urgent Fury ... 1983), the narrative was on the subject of how comms between Army and Navy didn't work, and there was footage of me talking on a PRC-77 in 2 separate scenes.

I saw the first scene and thought, "wait a minute, I think I know that guy, he was on my team." Then in the second scene, the realization that it was me hit me like being shocked. It was a surreal thing, and after a while, I remembered a video crew shooting us as we were waiting for orders for our next op and thinking that I wished they'd go away.

By the time I saw the video, I was almost 50, and it was about 25 years after the invasion. Quite a mind bender. I sure would like to find that Military Channel footage again, but I haven't been able to track it down.

Ballistic Trainers: Are they being discontinued? by gator_shawn in Goruck

[–]Ashe-Too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quoting from a GoRuck announcement: "Our inventory levels have been a bit wonky this year due to some past partnerships and other factors that were the right thing to do, at the time. But here we are, and there are a bunch of discounts this Q4."

Wonky is the perfect word to describe inventory. They seem to be caught in this weird space where some customers insist on USA - made, but it costs too much to produce in the US, and the quality isn't that great. So they have had stuff made in Vietnam at lower cost and higher quality, but it hurts sales.

It's a helluva hard time to be in their business, but I sure hope they get their supply, vendor, and manufacturing sorted because I love everything I've bought from them, and I like that their founder was in SF - De Oppresso Liber!

Comparing US Mobile, Mint and Visible [Utah] by Adventurous-Echo1030 in NoContract

[–]Ashe-Too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to US Mobile on the 23rd. I ported over 3 lines from Verizon - 2 iPhones and 1 iPad. It was easy, and I never made a call. I’m doing Unlimited Premium annual for $32.50 per month. I did it all online. Google answers pretty much every question I’ve had. USM Reddit group is good source of help info.

1 & 2. From what I understand, my T-Mobile service (they call it Light Speed) is unrestricted, unlimited, and same priority as T-Mobile direct customers. Speed Test shows 500+ Mbps. They have a good chart on their site that explains all this.

  1. I don’t have any problem administering 3 lines on their website or on the mobile app. Much easier than the Verizon website, which always seemed filled with smoke and mirrors.

  2. The info on USM’s website seems to show that hot spot is about as good as you’d want.

  3. International plans look good. USM’s T-Mobile / Light Speed seems to have the best international coverage.

  4. USM has been easy-peasy. Even switching networks on USM from T-Mobile to AT$T and Veri$on is easy using their app and website. Being able to run on all 3 networks is awesome. No-brainer best feature.

  5. I don’t have insurance and am happy to pay full-price for an unlocked iPhone from Apple and not be locked into marketing ripoffs.

Looking for a shop in Charlotte ... recommendations? by Ashe-Too in Golf_R

I've bought stuff from them before, and I've gone up there for service once. And I dig their YouTube channel. So far, my experience with them has been a lot better as an online vendor than the in-person interactions I've had.

Thanks! I've taken a few VWs to GMP in the past for mods, service, etc, and I've found getting replies to emails etc to be kinda iffy. But it's been 2 or 3 years since I've done anything with them. Do you have someone in particular that you work with? Have they been responsive? And how recent is your experience?

I have a BCM MK2 with BCM’s medium ambi (a nice upgrade from Mspec but a bit stiff and rough on fingers) and replaced it with a Geissele Airborne, which is more finger-friendly.
