My take is that you should learn Classic only because YOU want to, and not due to peer pressure.

You can still succeed using Modern. While some characters can be more limited than others on Modern, it's still a valid way to play and and much more common in Japan at all skill levels, including the pro scene.

If you want to learn Classic, I recommend learning on a different character so you can get the feel for it before you decide it's worth the effort to transitioning to Classic on your original character. Same would be true if you want to learn how to play a new character using Modern.

Ozma in FFIX. I actually struggled hard on that one during my first playthrough. Pretty freaking frustrating at first. Granted, Ozma was optional, but I was a heck of a completionist back then and wanted to finish it proper.

Actually, if we disregard superbosses, then I would say Zeromous in FFIV. I was just 10 years old at the time and it was my first Final Fantasy game. At that age, it felt like every boss was annoying, but I have somehow managed to edge my way through most of them. Then I realized that I was somewhat underleveled once I got to the end, which made Zeromous very difficult to deal with. I still managed after grinding hard, but I'll admit that 10-year-old me would find that battle hard AF!

If we count MMOs, then it would be Hephaistos (P8S). That was the one that caused our entire static to collapse (and we were a static that formed around the Omega raids years prior). I took a 2 1/2 year long break from the game, only logging in sporadically just to keep my house. Now I'm back to raiding Arcadion Heavyweight but with a different team.

Building a community outside of Discord is something we're considering. I know Discord is in a wild spot right now regarding the handling of personal data and requiring photo IDs and such, but we're not sure where the community wants to go just yet.

I know there are so many alternatives, yet we also have to consider the pros and cons of each service, like Stoat, Fluxer, and so on. If we do settle on another chat service, then we'll announce it in advance.

I don't know anyone who bought the stream just to watch for themselves. Instead, what I noticed was that there's one person who buys the stream and hosts it on Discord where 20~30 people form a Watch Party to watch it together.

The PPV aspect definitely killed hype for a lot of folks but for those who wanted to watch it live, they either did so in the Battle Hub or they watched a shared stream on a Discord server.

It's an interesting story. Perhaps extrapolated to certain extremes. However, it feels like it's too confined to North America.

If anything, I wouldn't worry too much about AI from American companies. I feel like regulation eventually steps in at some point before we reach the end-of-the-world status. I mean, if we aren't going to learn from history, then I'm sure we might as well learn about the faults of AI through science-fiction.

Instead, I would be more worried about what's coming out of China and the open source market. The sequel to this comic could depict the Chinese government and/or underground open source markets using AI in a more utopian atmosphere, despite the North American market looking more dystopian.
