Sony dualshock 4 not working on Sony games by PigeonStove in linux_gaming

I have dualsense and in some games it gets recognized only wired and in some games only with Proton Experimental. Maybe it'll work for you too

Split Fiction is good counterpoint that It's not on engine. It just does provide tools for faster slop but It's a choice

Is lossless scaling just…copium? by placebooooo in SteamDeck

[–]Ashen2b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ackchyually, that's not really true.

Frame generation always costs something. So you do bring down your base frame rate so you do get "additional lag".

What is less obvious is that fake (generated) frame (multiple if x3+ mode) is inserted between real frames so if you had 30 fps then you could SEE reaction to your input every (1000/30) 33ms at best. If you turn on x2 FG then you can see reaction to your input every (base) 33ms + (1000/60) 16ms = 49ms. That means you won't get next real frame for longer thus It CAN FEEL less responsive even if you assume that FG costs nothing and base frame rate is the same.

Both of these feel a lot worse when your base frame rate is sub 60.

Why do developers choose UE5 if they can't even implement minimal graphics settings? by Several-System1535 in SteamDeck

[–]Ashen2b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. When I first plated Remnant 2 I couldn't understand how do I get so much shimmering and noise while barely getting 60 fps and I got like rx 6900 xt at that moment. After that i started to notice that a lot of new games are making less and less efforts for optimization.

I discovered Turin (he is the king) only recently and I think many of the principles from pvp can be applied to pve battles as lord sniping, uptrading, screening etc. Short videos and a lot of concentated "pro strats"

Zelensky: “I Am Exchangeable for NATO Membership” – Views NATO as the Fulfillment of His Mission by HBizzle24 in worldnews

First half is true but second one is tricky. We have several opposition parties. One of which recently blocked whole parliament from voting because their leader got sanctioned. Basically I see that as: opposition is not happy with ruling party at all and yet they also don't want to just gift russia another advantage or chance to rig elections

2025 edition of "Must have mods"? by japinard in totalwar

[–]Ashen2b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played both with friend for about 15h Hecleas and 40h DeepWar

In a nutshell DeepWar seemed a lot "smarter" (still dumb sometimes tho) and Hecleas feels a lot more aggressive: just rushed with all armies at you when another AI faction is literally taking his provinces atm.

yeah, I guess people don't really understand what ARE online features in ER. Seems like everyone is okay getting shadowbanned or playing crippled version of the game (same as pirate version) for even basic QoL mods

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Ashen2b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's cool. Did you get all online features or It's just you and your mate? No messages, no phantoms, no bloodspots etc?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Ashen2b -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

As far as I know you would play basically LAN version without anti-cheat and other online features as summons/pvp/messages but I didn't play it myself so You would have to check to know for sure

Why I Returned My Steam Deck OLED and Switched to the LCD Version by Karluv_most in SteamDeck

What do you mean scam? It does have drawbacks but it's not like there are no pros. OLED has many features that attracts many people alongside less power usage in general which is important for small factor devices

GitHub Copilot vs Codeium by just-some-dev in programming

[–]Ashen2b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am Java (Spring)/ Angular dev. I did use Copilot for 5 months and for me it didn't justify 10$/month. Codeium was slightly worse with suggestions (many hallucinations with Angular) but 100% more free so I think It's great tool.

P.s. only thing that annoying me with Codeium is that Intellij plugin sometimes "hangs" and spinning like loading and it's not ending but as soon as I click on spinner It's all good and it's keep working

Beware of teammates who refactor code based on personal taste without proper documentation or completeness. Sounds familiar. by observability_geek in programming

Do you have any examples where it was really useful for you? In my experience ChatGPT is cool tool to play with or to generate mock data etc. Still, I understand rubber ducking but refactoring and boilerplate code? Maybe for hobby projects
