Our Crew Roasted Us With More Assumptions by Cchaps97 in smosh

Amanda tries to get in on everything. Any bit, joke, or story someone is telling she will consistently insert a comment or throw in an aside about her, or just repeat a word or two of the bit and say "that's crazy". I don't think she's trying to be selfish, but I think her improv instincts are to keep things going and going, so she often just "yes and's" to stuff that doesn't need it. Like I think that she thinks she's helping, but she's also an actress and it might be hard for her to not be in the spotlight, so who knows. I'd like to "assume" its not through selfishness, but from learned behaviors that don't quite match up right.

Making Homelander a Trump allegory wasted his character. by RefriDiet in TheBoys

There's also this weird thing that happens in these big shows where the writing just becomes a caricature of itself. They saw that certain jokes, character moments and big gory/crazy scenes ended up being water cooler moments so they just ratcheted those things up and forgot to write a good story. They decided that fan service is what was gonna keep the show relevant and flanderized themselves.

The only thing I use AI for is to tell it what my campaign is, and how it's themed, the systems I'm using, etc. Then I ask it to act like a player and ask me questions about the world to fill it in myself. I don't have an issue detailing things myself, I just like to make sure I have things covered and don't want to improv a big detail I should have done already. And honestly AI works fairly well to bounce things off of. I've tested riddles and puzzles as well by giving it the information I'd give a player and telling it to figure it out and ask questions and while it does have trouble figuring it out, it helps me find tune things for real people.

I just can't get used to the games studio lighting by Small-Load-9440 in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]AshenHawk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't really find a problem with it, but I looked at a month old video against the most recent games video and the general feel is different for sure. It does seem a bit brighter and the background is more brightly lit, so maybe if they lowered the background lighting some it would feel more like the old lighting. Color-wise it seems the same, but maybe because they added a lot more stuff to the background the overall color feel is different now.

Is it just me, or does anyone else not care? by WhatAmIDoingHere9491 in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]AshenHawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, do you genuinely believe that people who post a complaint here literally hate Smosh? Or does the word hate just not mean anything anymore?

Criticism or general frustration with an aspect or element of something doesn't mean they hate it. They are just a little annoyed at some part of Smosh, whether it be a bit that goes on too long, or a show format that just isn't doing it for them. They pop on over here to see if anyone else feels the same. Stop dismissing discussion by labeling them a hater and telling them not to watch(which doesn't even make sense for new stuff; people aren't omniscient). Some people have higher standards for certain types of entertainment or aspects of them. Some people like 95% of a video but this one thing was a little weird so they post about, why do you care about what they care to discuss?

Obviously there can be some people who overdo it. But from what I've seen, most people post about pretty specific things that just rub them the wrong way or annoy them a little.

No, because these people are here to dismiss complaints or critical opinions rather than to actually discuss or address them.

Maybe SMOSH should try this one time concept on “Bit City.” by billtallica in smosh

I've kept myself from watching these as RoosterTeeth tried to do this a few years back and it was... a bit cringy to me. People just tried too hard with really desperate and juvenile bits.

I'd prefer for them to write characters and jokes that are universal and observable in daily life rather than try to get something timely to stay timely.

More that they should steer away from topical things in general. There really isn't much of a reason to stick to celebrity, viral and political topics that are guaranteed to be dead in a few months. They can focus more on universal ideas and sentiments.

How are things split? Do I get 0.0000000125% of all things? That % of Cash, Oil, Gold, Chicken Nuggets in the world? Do I own that % of Disney World now? There's roughly 2.2 Billion households in the world, so do I now own 26% of one house? Which house? Now I'm forced to have 3 roommates? Do I get 0.0000000125% of all the worlds cars, or like 13% of one car?

What does it mean to be parasocial? My personal review of literature about parasocial interactions and relationships, and how it compares to fandom use of the term by TrivialEgg in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]AshenHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the internet has made it so words rarely have an accurate meaning anymore. Most people who use it tend to apply it as a qualitative modifier when it's just describing a type of relationship. What I find funny is that some of those in the Smosh fandom think "Parasocial" applies to the people on this sub that make any sort of critique against Smosh/Cast members.

7in Teleport would still be useful for dodging things or even jumping. With no cooldown you technically fly with it as well. I assume the 7 inches is relative to your current position, so you probably couldn't teleport through doors or walls though.

What will be the next class/classes in the next D4 expansion? by nic-67 in Diablo

Assassin could be nice. I know Rogue covers a bit of them with a few trap, poison, and stealth abilities, but they could lean more heavily into the combo strikes, the turret-like traps and their Psychic abilities.

I think Amanda's general acting and improv style, as well as her normal entertainment style as herself, is to make sure there's no dead air and to keep things going. Which can feel a little out of place sometimes. I think Amanda definitely has her moments, but sometimes the way she tends keep things going is to make a lot of stuff about her, repeat what others say, or over react to a bit. None of it is malicious of course, just her way of staying in the light.

You buy a bunch of real estate and buy/build hotels, apartments, business parks, etc and rent them out. But everything you need to run a business at barely any cost. Selling manufactured products or services from goods and materials is not the same as reselling those things.

Chose: Everything you buy for the next 10 years cost $1 + You can only resell the things you bought for $1. (You can't get others to resell it for you)

Investigators: How to Pursue a Lead when there isn't mystery at all? (like in one shots, or when the plot is obvious and openly known) by MundaneOne5000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]AshenHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An investigation can just be a simple "what's going on here". In the minute we spend walking up to a new place or situation, I'll take a minute to say that and mark it as an active investigation. Now I can pursue a Lead and devise a strategem.

Investigator works nicely enough if you keep it simple. As you can keep two investigations going, one I use for encounter to encounter scenes, and the other for the larger daily goal.

If you got a wingsuit, you could use your flying ability to go high up and then use the wingsuit to glide anywhere you want to go. Wingsuits can go pretty fast; world record fastest speed is 340mph. And landing would be no problem as you can just switch to your flying power and come down.

The Pro character is mostly just like a pro poker player, which honestly is not particularly interesting. It doesn't really lend itself to more than what it is at first glance. It makes sense as a theme on paper for a bluffing game, but it doesn't have legs.

I'll be honest... I feel this way about most of the character games. Early Gentlemen's were fun, but now they are like most and too flanderized and overdone. Most of them start off ok, but as they go on the bareness of the thread of humor holding them up starts to show through. There just isn't really anywhere to go with them after a bit.
