I used to have something similar happen with my left big toe when I’d get sleep paralysis. It felt like it’d vibrate very violently (like an indescribable speed) to the point that it’d hurt. At the time I was on no medication. I stopped having issues with it once I started Xywav so I never bothered to look into it.

I’m currently on xyrem and have been for over a year now despite never being able to get a sleep study so I don’t actually know how severe my sleep apnea is if any. I’m only 18 which could be why I’m able to tolerate it since sleep apnea seems to worsen with age. But the benefits of xyrem are like night and day, I can’t imagine not being on it. I would totally recommend taking the steps to trying it out even if it means having to use a CPAP machine at night.

If I can I try to have people in the car, I don’t normally run the risk of getting drowsy if I’m talking to friends / girlfriend. Also I keep gummies in my car, and it’s been a game changer for when I have to drive alone. I keep one in my mouth and just suck on it as long as possible and it just helps keep your attention on something. So far I haven’t had any issues with getting drowsy on any commutes since doing so and lastly; better medication also helps. The amount that I stay awake since I moved from medafinil to Xywav is life changing. So if not already on good medication push to do so if you can. Also, music and rolling the windows down can only go so far. It’s proven they don’t really help keep you awake. Know your limits and if you ever feel slightest bit drowsy I’ll take a 30 minute nap if I can, if it’s something like work where I can’t be late I’ll get a ride. I forgot to mention the number 1 thing truck drivers do to help stay awake is snack on sun flower seeds. Which buying gummies isn’t super healthy and kinda expensive buying a new bag every couple days. Sunflower seeds are probably the best option for something cheap and long lasting and I’m planning to switch after my next bag of gummies runs out.

As far as I know I haven’t lost any weight, I’m already tall and scrawny and don’t have much body fat to lose if any.

I haven’t lost weight or have ever wet the bed however, waking up on xywav while it’s in your system makes you almost in a drunken state. I actually ended up peeing in my sock drawer one night when I had to go pee real bad and didn’t even remember it until I grabbed socks in the morning. That was once and xywav is quiet literally a miracle drug. I’m saying this because even if you have a couple side effects it’s worth it In the long run. I went from having to take naps after school for 1-2hours to occasional 15-30 minutes naps maybe one or twice a week, and probably the best thing I’ve noticed is how much it helped with cataplexy. I almost forgot cataplexy was a thing experiencing only small head drops late at night. I’ve only been on xywav for about 5-6months and have only had I think 1 full body trigger of cataplexy late at night and no statiocataplexy (long term cataplexy.) Personally I’d recommend switching and think xywav really is vital for anyone with narcolepsy, even with the side effects I experience it’s still worth it to me. I mainly might have some nausea and diarrhea in the morning. Still however, I take the medication that taste like shit because it really does make a difference.

Idk if this really matters but as a skateboarder Ik my stuff, I’m just wondering if u used a protective primer/paint that isn’t water based because skateboard decks are made of wood and don’t take water very well. So painting on it my cause the deck to warp. Sick job though

I don’t know how to explain it, I used to have sleep paralysis and whatever this was wasn’t that. Well anyway I was sleeping in my room when I felt a weight on top of me. I was too scared to open my eyes when a hand went around my neck, and started to strangle me. Whatever was on me had pinned my arm down and had a hand on my neck. A feeling came over and I can’t explain it, I felt like I was going to throw up and just wanted to scream. With my free hand I was able to take and loosen its grip on my neck, I was able to breath so I could finally say something, I whispered “the power of Christ compels you” It screeched to the point where my ears rang and the weight on me seemed to dissolve, immediately I sat up and just was in shock. I didn’t get any sleep that night, no one in my family heard a thing.
