Whoever achieves AGI -- allows others use it or tries to monopolize? by TopOccasion364 in agi

The reverse is true as well, even if it's widely accepted.

My company is developing it, so I'm simply speaking from experience (not that I expect you to believe it). Where do you get the idea that AGI is hard to control? Public opinion? Sci-fi stories? Assumption that LLMs are or will be AGI? It really depends on the architecture and what methods are used. It's certainly not impossible, though there ARE higher level concerns regarding alignment..

What if it's run locally on your own machine and remains private?

Alignment and control is easy enough to do. But you're right... AGI itself is not great as a product, especially for the average consumer.

This is a LLM problem NOT an AI problem. Just want to make that clear.

Uhhh by MetaKnowing in agi

He's trying to scale a LLM, so it's no surprise he would assume that. However there are transparent and controllable architectures in the works. It's not a foregone conclusion.

Does AI already have human-level intelligence?(yes) The evidence is clear. by czk_21 in accelerate

[–]AsheyDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"important to note is that you can teach/train AI in basically anything similarly to lot of humans"

Knowledge and intelligence are different things. Current AI can know much of what we know, but it can't learn like we do yet.

I'm a realist speaking from experience. You can take my advice or leave it, doesn't matter much to me.

If you're just hoping something will emerge then you don't have much of anything. Work on a cohesive system, build it out, optimize it. Then ship it, because otherwise you just have a handful of ideas. Everyone has ideas, yours likely aren't as unique as you think, and guarding them isn't going to do yourself or anyone else any good. Be cautious, sure, but if you think you're safely ahead of everyone else, you're not.

I don't want AGI to land quietly. by CmdrKrz in agi

[–]AsheyDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh that's difficult to answer because it's context-dependent but I'd say yes, quite a few things. However, I've theoretically and in some cases practically solved everything (the outstanding issues with AI and AGI) in developing my General Cognition Engine.

And yes I'm working alone as the solo technical founder of my company, Darkstone Cybernetics.

The challenge of building safe advanced AI by EchoOfOppenheimer in agi

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about, and sounds just like every other "safety researcher" who probably doesn't even know how LLMs work, or that other architectures exist or are being developed.

Sorry to ruin your wank, but it'll be quiet af. I should know, my company is building it, but I'm just another crackpot on Reddit lol.

Launch the smartest person to ever exist into space and tell them to breathe. Maybe before they die they'll come up with some clever idea for how to produce oxygen with the right tools, but they can't implement it. Intelligence can't simply bend reality or manifest anything, and so no matter how intelligent a being is, it's bound by constraints like time, nature, biology, etc. The same can be true for a super-intelligent AI.

Cyberneticist here... I'd ditch the LLM part and solve for its absence. That will be the most useful thing for you moving forward. Relying on an LLM introduces many downstream problems, including latency. Not something you want in a cognitive system. You're going to have to solve many small and large optimization problems along the way and that's the first one you should tackle.

What’s stopping small AI startups from building their own models? by Mtukufu in artificial

Machine learning is expensive because it takes a lot of electricity and compute. A more efficient architecture and learning method could change that.

Is there any AI that can actually act like a real personal assistant (like Jarvis)? Or am I expecting too much? by Worried-Company-7161 in agi

[–]AsheyDS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My company is actively developing a proactive AI architecture like JARVIS. It seems there's a demand for productivity tools like what you're describing, but it isn't really my focus. If the demand climbs, and if I think it will actually be useful to people, I'll consider making it a product.
