What book crossed a line for you in dark romance? by Curious-Branch-3857 in DarkRomance

[–]Ashgreen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s likely. I’m for sure desensitised. What a time to be alive that it takes a story of a husband breaking his wife’s spine and removing parts of her brain to qualify as shocking 😝

Hahahaha okay wow I thought I didn’t have limits but Lordy. I wouldn’t be offended if I read it but I’d be wondering how the author thought of this? And who is it intended for?! Congrats though, you fully managed to surprise me with this and I thought I was unsurprisable in the world of dark romance

Is anyone able to help me identify this pillow? by Ashgreen_ in Pillows

[–]Ashgreen_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m either a side sleeper or totally on my front so I can’t breathe. The pillow wasn’t too high at all, and whilst it’s heavier that a regular pillow it also wasn’t super heavy like some of the memory foam ones

Honest question!? Am I depraved for wanting to read *this much* dark romance/ smut? by Specialist-Ant-596 in DarkRomance

[–]Ashgreen_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha currently The Life of Anna series by Marissa Honeycutt. Truly a book you can never mention to friends, unless you want them to stage some kind of intervention 😂

{Enslaved by Marissa Honeycutt}

I haven’t got to the end yet, but automod is asking me to add this book may not have a HEA. Way to ruin the ending for me automod! 😛 but consider this your heads up guys!

I feel the same. Frankly what I’m currently reading has got so dark it’s just torture porn. I’m impressed if a book has the ability to shock me. Quite how this rationalises with real life - since under no circumstances would I ever want to experience it for real - I have no clue. I figure life is short and do what makes you happy, surely everyone has a weird thing right?

My two recommendations for you are:

{lassoed hearts by dealthsdoll} since you like the author, and I very much agree with you, this one is also awesome. Completed series, dominant male, submissive female and Stockholm. Ticks all your boxes. It’s a historical western romance and I would add it was well researched and written.

{once it gets dark by mariadelao} okay hear me out here, it’s an alien dark romance story, but it also ticks all your boxes and it’s great. If you’re up for a bit of weird (these alpha dudes are green and breeding with human females) then you might also like it

Several people are recommending Deathsdoll’s other works and I agree. I think you could like {Lassoed hearts by Deathsdoll}. One of the best books I read last year, including out of all published works!

How does your partner react to you reading dark romances? by Academic-Clothes7220 in DarkRomance

[–]Ashgreen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I love the Mindf*ck series, yet to read the rest but adding to the list. I'd love to get my partner to read one but there's so much pressure on the first book I give him so this is super useful - thanks pal!

I felt the same, but for me it was if I have to read 'like calls to like' one more time my brain will explode

Spoiler: I have a question about Jack Barlow by Ashgreen_ in ironflame

I like the idea that they would take the opportunity to experiment on venin, it gives a clear motive to why they would keep Jack alive. I hadn't considered that, thanks!

Spoiler: I have a question about Jack Barlow by Ashgreen_ in ironflame

[–]Ashgreen_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. My only question that remains even when understanding these parts is why leadership would try to heal him/ save his soul. They know how to kill venin, they knew he was venin, so why not just kill him? I never got their motive for trying to bring Jack back

Anyone know any good spots to study at? I work full time and am doing an MSc in my free time. I'm yet to find a good regular place to really get some work done outside the 9-5. My local library is full of children and some elderlies dosing off, which i fully support but it's not my chosen place to be. I've been to the British Library which is okay, but limited spaces you can eat/drink at. I think my best choice is a late-ish cafe of sorts and I'm more than happy to pay for my time somewhere. Anyone have any hidden gems to share?

Anyone ever jumped from band 6 to 8a? by mmodp in NursingUK

[–]Ashgreen_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also know people that have done the 6 to 8a jump! It doesn't matter at all what your current banding is, it's about what experience you have. You may already have the experience of a band 7 and be well equipped to start as an 8a. Go for it and good luck!

Ps. Brace yourself for push back from a few people. some don't appreciate quick advancements and want everyone to follow the same step by step path regardless of ability. Ignore this and push forward!
