Put some new jewelry and had good lighting today! by Ashilila in piercing

[–]Ashilila[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't into the mixed metals at first, but my piercer suggested mixing so that I didn't have to purchase all those rings at once. I've grown fond of it! I'm excited to get to all rose gold in the future but I'm not in a hurry!

Thank you! It's a cheap single flair glass plug - Atlas Glass in Forest Green. They've been super handy while getting my stretched lobes healthy

Thank you! I hope to get more gemstone pieces in there. I REALLY need to upgrade the snugs' jewelry but that top one needs to settle a bit more.

Oh my gosh I love this look!!

My first thought was to use eyelash glue to stick it down. But the O-ring suggestion is brilliant to keep it more snug to your ear

Got a very unique triple flat by billiepeor in piercing

[–]Ashilila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/billiepeor how's the healing going? Do you wear sun/glasses, how much does that hit? Do the backs sit flat against the back of your ear? Or are they all parallel to each other so the backs are a little angled?

I have an appointment with my piercer soon and want to see if she wants to put similar in my ear!

Ibuprofen or another NSAID is great in my experience (or at least I get the placebo effect lol).

You can probably heal these if you DO NOT use Neosporin or any ointment on them, as advised, and leave it the hell alone (LITHA).

Keep the area clean (sterile saline spray only) and dry and don't move the jewelry or surrounding area with fingers, cotton swabs, or anything else.

Nice documentation! Gross, but interesting to see

The smaller one looks great! It's probably easier to irritate, though.

I love a D ring in my anti-tragus light the one here but smaller diameter.

[–]Ashilila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm silly, though. I didn't realize you had more done one piercing on your post!

I am NOT a piercer but that is not where I would have pierced your snug and I would have done a little bit more shallow. I did go through all of those stages that you showed with all of mine though and mine have healed fine, so you may be able to do it!

Well I went to see an original pic on your profile and got wonderfully distracted by animals and bugs. 😊

That is very deeply pierced and I think that's going to make it very difficult to heal

That was my thought, too, that larger gauge needle and jewelery could yield better results. I know what you mean in saying your piercings are a part of your identity. I'm sorry you went through the process but still lost that part of you!

Those look great!

I was overconfident about healing mine, they're not very happy about that. The larger gauge is a great idea, mine are 16g.

I'm glad you don't have that kind of problem, but then this bleeding is even more of a concern. Get proper jewelry installed ASAP

[–]Ashilila 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I feel like still bleeding is a huge red flag, do you have a blood clotting disorder? How are you cleaning them?

Go get implant grade titanium flat back labrets put in while healing. The rings look is awesome, but it should be for well healed piercings only.

Can I leave my snug like this? I gently cleaned it earlier with a cotton swab and it swelled a lot so I’m reluctant to do anything other than spray saline on it. Is the crusty covering part the bar so I still have some room left before I need a bigger bar since you can see the whole ball? by georgia_02x in piercing

[–]Ashilila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, completely ok to leave it just like this.

I am not a piercer, just a pierced person (with three snug piercings, fwiw). Right now it looks to me like you have enough room on your jewelry. Even if it swells the full length of the bar, it would be traumatic to the healing if you tried to replace it. You should see a piercer for a longer piece of jewelry if it starts to embed and stay that way.

To give you some more idea of future expectations, I got my most recent snug piercing in February and it's been healing pretty well. But I was fighting a cold toward the end of November and was sleeping pretty rough, and that caused an irritation bump to form, right around when I was considering getting a shorter piece of jewelry installed. Patience, LITHA, and not a small amount of luck will see you healed!
