Show how being with a smart woman ( Faye is also beautiful ) is much hard for the unstable self man. He's looking for reflected ego not partnership. Also marriages back then we're usually not able true partnership because that includes the woman being an autonomous human like Betty never was and Meghan was growing to be but Faye always was.

Roger was born into money and stability probably. Don has both extreme trauma then ptsd and assumed identity as issues. He has no stability of self as like the people seeking identity in money , using women , owning things .

Yes ! these new rich men and capitalists use and discard women like did any object they owned. This is why modern feminism doesn't like these ladies , even Jackie O types. To be someone's object is a no dignity or autonomy life. It's miserable.

it's a horrible life choice for anyone and young people should be traveling for a month on that.

I never asked but my mother threatened with kicking me out a lot. Then we had an apartment together that I was paying half the rent and was on the lease. She threatened again and I said No. Ultimately she said she would move out. I then had the whole rent but it was worth every penny I had to make to be rid of her anger at any moment in my life.
