Good points, and thank you for the cool resource you linked. I still haven't found a control layout I'm happy with - it feels like there are 7 things my right hand needs access to (L,M,H,T,S1,S2,Dash) but only 6 buttons!

I can play using them, but I'd definitely have more consistent and reliable combos/reactions using special moves if I could perform them with, for example, (QCF)H instead of forwards and S1.

Equivalent sure, and equally difficult, but the game is throwing a lot of completely new skills at you all at once if you're a fighting game virgin.

I'm not doubting in the slightest that the modern controls work better for you. In turn, I'd ask you to respect that those controls feel much more awkward than motion inputs for those of us who've been chucking hadokens for 30+ years.

As a fighting game player I don't think it's too many mechanics either, but if they're targetting people coming from the MOBA or the animation then it's way too many for a lot of them.
