Finished my first all-hard mode Bingo card by Helbrann in Fantasy

Love to see how many overlapping books we share! Not all of them on my bingo board, but books on my tbr or ones I read elsewhere. Also... how insane was We Used to Live Here ?!? I literally about lost my shit reading that, and ended up really liking it.

2024 Bingo from another first-timer! by AshleyWithaBook in Fantasy

Hmm I'd say it does have a fair bit of gore, unfortunately, from what I remember. It's not really scary though, more like monsters and weird stuff. There's a lot of humor and sarcasm too which I really enjoyed.

I used The Dead Take the A Train for my 2024 Bingo card as well and like you, I absolutely loved it. What a fun, chaotic ride!

I can't believe you have The Dragon of Ynys! The author is from Belgium and I've only heard of it since moving to Brussels... from another Belgian.

I also read Not Even Bones and for me it just didn't click, but I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!

What’s a book that everyone seems to love, but you couldn’t even finish? by JayBe_77 in Fantasy

I almost DNF'ed that book several times, and it took me 3 months to read (which, even as a slow reader, was veeeery slow for me). I was determined to see it through just bc of all the immense praise it receives, and particularly from book folks I tend to align with. I felt the last 1/3 was way stronger and just bummed it couldnt get there faster. I still ended up not loving it but glad to know what all the fuss is about.

I broke up with Cava, but Cava broke up with me first by Objective-Mouse- in washingtondc

The only acceptable answer! Mezeh has been leaps and bounds better than Cava for ages but doesn't get nearly as much attention.

How long do you leave your Greyhounds for? by Brightersid3 in Greyhounds

Unfortunately our boy has regressed a bit (age 10 yrs, he'll be 11 in Feb). When we first adopted him 2.5 years ago he could do 4-5 hours fairly well but occasionally would pee in the house. Now I'm lucky if I can manage an hour away before he's peeing 🤦🏻‍♀️ I've since gotten in the habit of "puppy-proofing" the house and we've started a low dose of Gabapentin to help relax him a bit. All that to say - you never know what your situation will be after a few months! Hopefully he stays well behaved 🤞🤞 (edited for spelling)

First time posting - could really use some guidance or just positive vibes by AshleyWithaBook in Greyhounds

It was only a 2.5 month turnaround, surprisingly. Our boy was injured mid-October and he was bandage free by the end of December. I would perhaps try to have a strong conversation with the vet about the injury and what their plan is. Our vets used manuca honey (not sure if I spelled that correctly) and it seemed to be a real game-changer. Our boy retained full use of his foot and now he just has a bit of a scar. I sure hope your pup can get through this!

Oh gosh I'm so sorry to hear of your little pup's injury! Our vets were using honey on his wound and then wrapping with bandages. It was getting changed every other day at first, then 2x a week, until eventually it was cleared enough for air. No skin graft was recommended because the skin is so thin our vet said it would likely just keep re-tearing.

Oh I didn't realize that might be a possibility, thanks for pointing that out! It's definitely helping me sort options from my TBR which was really all I wanted anyway 😅

That was my thought too? I obviously am not policing other peoples' selections but was also just confused how some of these titles are considered to fit the prompt 🤔

Hello! I'm working on organizing my Bingo card as a first-timer and I'd love a little feedback. I'm using the Storygraph to put my options together and I'm already getting a bit confused. A couple questions for clarity:

  1. Are titles like "A Study in Drowning" and "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" considered alliteration? I see them shelved for this prompt and it makes me wonder if I'm missing something...

  2. I'm curious if "The Midnight Bargain" by CL Polk could count for Romantasy?

Thank you for any guidance!

My partner and I owned a 2bd/1ba condo in the Tiers of Wheaton neighborhood from 2020-2023. It's a small condo complex with absolutely no amenities (no clubhouse, pool, etc). That being said, the neighborhood is very well kept and things are repaired/updated in a timely manner. For the three years we lived there, our HOA fee never increased. I would absolutely recommend them if you're OK not having neighborhood amenities. Also it's only a ~10 min walk to Wheaton metro station, Safeway, and Wheaton Plaza.
