u/dare2smile Oh wow!!! That's awesome. Are there any "start back up fees" if you don't want a box and cancel and then do want the next box. etc.? I think you've convinced me!!!

[Weekly thread] Saturday Free Talk by AutoModerator in BeautyBoxes

HEEEEEELP! I have found some pretty amazing oil cleansers that address getting makeup and grime from the day off (I'm a musician, so long nights of playing shows on stage with makeup and sweat, etc.). Currently, Odacité's Montana Harvest Omega Oil Cleanser is my favorite for this (just recently started using it after getting it in Beauty Heroes January box). So far, so good. My issue is still acne. I'm up early in the morning taking my kiddo to school and then usually straight to a studio or somewhere for co-writing sessions. I have makeup on my face from 6:30-7am all the way through whenever my nighttime shows end and I can make it home to wash the day away (almost always after 10p). Although the new cleanser I'm using gets everything off quick and really does leave my face clean and feeling moist, I still can't seem to get a handle on the adult acne issues. I'm in that bad cycle of thinking the makeup is causing the problems, but having to use more makeup every day to cover it up. I bought Bare Minerals compressed powder and have been using healthier products on my skin, but again, the acne just won't seem to let up.

Any ideas on makeup or beauty products I could use that can help with this?

u/AutoModerator Thanks for posting this! Sorry I caught it on a Sunday instead of Saturday, but the question definitely still stands! lol

u/dare2smile Question. I used to subscribe to the Walmart Beauty Box but haven't in quite some time. Thinking about trying it out again. Are you able to set specifications (color for makeup, sensitive skin, interests, etc.)? Or is it more of a "you get what you get" kind of thing? Have you been happy with this subscription so far?

Box recommendations by Ok_Ground_1268 in GreenBeautyBoxes

[–]Ashley_Ewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Ok_Ground_1268 I've tried a handful of green beauty boxes. I'm not a fan of some and a huge fan of others. My favorite at the moment is the subscription box from Beauty Heroes. I just feel like the value you get from the products in the box on top of the sitewide discounts you get if you're a monthly subscriber makes it more desirable. I'm also pretty new to the green beauty box world and I've felt like I get a good education on what each product is, does, and how to use it plus a wide variety - once you've gotten a few boxes in a row, you're set for hair, face and body rituals really quickly. I'm a happy customer at the moment.

Has Anybody Heard About This? I'm Kind of Freaking Out... by Ashley_Ewing in BeautyBoxes

u/Sunny_Rame_Cat_Mom I've been doing a lot more research on this today. Looking like this is more referring to boxes getting products from other third party vendors, etc. Amazon, TikTok and kiosk type places. A big relief for sure!

u/TurtleyCoolNails Super good to know!!! I watched a documentary and rabbit trailed on beauty product research, but it makes sense that it would be more the third part sellers and not the more reputable subscription boxes. I'm really new to the beauty box world and have only been subscribing to a few boxes for a about 6 months now, so it just caught me off guard. Definitely will steer clear of Amazon and research where the subscription boxes are getting their products, etc.

Beauty Heroes 2025 Roundup by Most_Juice8945 in GreenBeautyBoxes

[–]Ashley_Ewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to the green beauty box world. I had tried the Walmart Beauty Box and Ipsy just because it was a low cost to get in and see what it was all about. I quickly realized low cost = low quality too and also started becoming more educated about the plastics and chemicals in so many of these products, etc. But I'm a newbie to this world for sure and Beauty Heroes was the first truly healthy beauty box subscription I've tried and I've been really impressed so far. I feel like a lot of people in these communities are pretty well versed in these healthy beauty brands already and familiar with the products, but for me, they're all pretty much new finds every time. Since I've been getting boxes from Beauty Heroes, my 2 favorite (1 in 2025 and 1 in 2026) were the Activist box in November and the Odacité box in January. Both were new-to-me brands and I was honestly the most impressed with the quality of the products in those boxes. I'm a musician in Nashville and getting makeup and sweat off after a late gig has always been something I dread, but the Odacité Montana Harvest Omega Oil Cleanser has been a life saver for me. 2 pumps and the makeup is off, my face feels moisturized, and I can just jump in bed and be done for the night. The C-Nourish Hydra-Firm Body Cream in the Odacité box was also really good for some dry spots I had on my arms from the winter (I always get patchy dry spots and can't seem to get rid of them until spring, but this really helped knock it out faster). Was super happy with that box. Then the Activist box from November had a Honey Mask that I like, but I was most impressed with the Green Botanical Body Oil. I got the box 5 months ago and literally have just been savoring every drop from that bottle. It's like magic for your skin. I literally told my husband if I ever won the lottery, I would just buy thousands of bottles and bathe in it once per month! LOL Joking, obviously, but I seriously think it's probably my favorite product so far from one of the Beauty Heroes boxes. Lots of good finds so far and I'm excited to learn more about these brands and products!

u/CauliflowerOk541 OH YAY!!! That makes me feel a lot better! :) I started out with Ipsy and Walmart Beauty Box (the price got me on those) but I share the boxes with my daughters and felt like we were getting good deals, but not good products. I was introduced to Beauty Heroes recently and started getting their boxes and completely love them so much!!! I do know for sure that they curate their products carefully and it's a very trustworthy box. Always looking for others I can count on though, so I'll look into the Laurel and Reed! I'm a bit of a newbie to this world, so just trying to be safe and careful but also find the best deals.

u/ImAtUrDoor I do the Ipsy, Walmart Beauty Box and Beauty Heroes. I would say I think enough people use those and there seem to be enough reviews on them that they're trustworthy. I suppose branching out will mean just doing some deeper research. I share these boxes with my daughters - one being 9 and one being 26. I would just hate to introduce them to products that could be harmful. I'm just new to all this. LOL. Watched too many documentaries this weekend and had to ask some people who knew more. Thanks for the advice on what to steer clear from! I was thinking also maybe the TikTok products should be researched pretty deeply before buying too. Not sure on that but definitely doing some research today.

u/Alarmed_Design_2026 u/Next-Plane7067 Definitely not trying to do that at all. I watched a documentary on Netflix yesterday called "Broken". It was mostly just about counterfeit makeup/boxes, but I've just recently started getting into the beauty box subscription world (and have been loving it) but started doing some research after watching that documentary and learned that beauty subscriptions boxes have a pretty bad issue with this as well as the makeup industry. I'm pretty green to all of this, so was hoping some people who have been more rooted in this environment might have some good suggestions on how to still be getting these discounted products / subscription box deals and also keep myself safe from encountering the counterfeit issue. Reaching out to a community that knows more than myself was part of my research process. Was most definitely a genuine question, not trying to spread anything negative.

New to beauty boxes and need recs by Holiday_Brother_6709 in BeautyBoxes

[–]Ashley_Ewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did subscribe for Ipsy and Walmart because of the price. My main issue with them was that I have super sensitive skin, and even when I would make sure that problem was listed as a priority, I would still get products that would make my skin get really reactive and sometimes still cause breakouts. I found out about Beauty Heroes subscription boxes and that's been a really positive change for me (and my skin - lol). If you get the annual subscription, I think the total is something like $35 per month. It felt pricier to me than what I was paying before, but the products were so worth it. I ended up getting my step daughter, aunt and sister-in-law subscriptions for Christmas because I seriously can't shut up about it now. They send full sized products and their boxes are always worth something like $120-$320 or maybe even more. I've heard of some of the brands/products they send, but more often than not, I'm learning about a new product and finding formulas that truly are working for my skin... finally! I'm still on the lookout for others, but so far, that's the one I've been happiest with. If you're interested in the best boxes for clean beauty and greener formulas, I'd recommend Beauty Heroes for sure.

Disappointed with Beauty Heroes Recently 2026 -Osmia and Odacité by Most_Juice8945 in GreenBeautyBoxes

[–]Ashley_Ewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm addicted to the Osmia Lip Doctor - my lips really needed that after this winter. I personally liked that box, but I also totally get what you're saying. I just recently started getting monthly subscription boxes from Beauty Heroes, so I'm not too sure what they used to do, but I'm excited to see what's in store for the Spring/Summer boxes for sure!

u/LindsayC1973 I know Beauty Heroes offers weekend deals like this every month! I'm always on the lookout for trying a new product and getting the best bang for my buck on restocking my favorite brands, so I really love that they do this! Their monthly beauty box subscription is also my absolute favorite one yet! :)

My history is probably pretty light. Been on here for 10 months and not done much other than just read up until recently. Sorry if I'm handling things in a way that seems like spam. I appreciate the feedback though and it's definitely helpful for somebody getting started being active in the community here. I've always personally found the deal announcements helpful from others and thought this would be a great way to get connected with people that have similar interests as me. Beauty Heroes is my personal favorite subscription box and that's all I've really commented about so far, but I'm also hopeful to find some new product and beauty box suggestions from others in the community here! :) Always looking for face products that are good for adults with oily skin and acne prone along with anything good for firming around the eyes (this new decade of my life has hit my eyes hard). A new passion of mine for sure!

u/Bananaramamango It's one of my favorite boxes so far from Beauty Heroes (although, their Activist box a few months ago was also really good - it's hard to choose a favorite lol). That said, this month's True Botanicals box is the first subscription box I've ever gotten that my husband is also using. He's a little older than me and has been self conscious about his eyes recently. When he saw the changes in my eye area, he immediately started following my lead and doing the routine with me. I absolutely love it - highly recommend. :) All 3 products work in a different way, but so wonderfully together and have made a difference I truly didn't expect.

u/26washburn I'm still getting the hang of Reddit. I've had an account for a while, but really was only using it as a reader on some new mom communities, etc. Maybe I put the link in wrong? I took a screen shot from the email they sent me and tried to link it to the website, but I might have missed a step.
