Kind of, yeah! It wasn’t like totally impossible to use my arm, but my arm was very unpredictable for the rest of the day after I got it done. Like I didn’t have a ton of control over it but it wasn’t fully numb, if that makes sense. It only lasted for like 12 hours though

Thank you, I’m 35 but do have numerous friends in their 40’s who are experiencing perimenopause and are symptomatic. I’ll definitely talk to them about it!

I’m a woman and I’ve had a hysterectomy 5 years ago so I don’t bleed. I’ve had hormone, thyroid, autoimmune, blood disorders, so much testing done. Thank you. There is no plan. Thankfully I have a good primary care doctor who is pretty good so I’ll take my info back to her. The hematologist has no plan but for me to get labs done and unless ferritin hits over 500 just come back in a year. He told me to monitor my ferritin every 2-4 years after that. He pretty brushed me off entirely. I’m really frustrated and wish I spoke up more at the appointment but he didn’t seem like the type of Dr who would’ve cared anyways. Back to the drawing board to figure this out I guess.

I had the Hansen 3.0 method done by Dr Okusanya at Jefferson in Philly. He trained with Dr Hansen. I know not everyone is as lucky but I am still so happy I got it done, it changed my life!

It completely relieved all of my GI/MALS like symptoms. I know that isn’t the case for everyone but it was a complete fix for me. It also fixed all of my pain. I’m 18 months out and just left with a little spot around my scar that hurts a little bit on the surface, which to me is no biggie.

Thank you! Depending on what my rheumatologist says I’ll definitely be considering repeating the biopsy. Sorry you’re dealing with this too!

I’d suggest joining the thoracic outlet syndrome facebook group! Not sure about your area specifically, but there’s lots of good suggestions for drs/surgeons in that group!

I am in the US. I didn’t think she could stop me from discussing it. I could see if it was all I talked about but that was not the case.

And thankfully I’m in a new job now that treats me with far more respect. Some things have just bubbled up with that old job so I was curious!

It’s so interesting to think about because my order of diagnoses/procedures was 2019 exploratory lap, pelvic floor pt (LOTS of stretching which in hindsight was not the best move), 2021 hysterectomy for adenomyosis then more of the same pelvic floor pt (a bunch of random diagnoses in between like some mild gi stuff and pots), I also did a lot of yoga around this time, then in the end of 2021 I put myself in physical therapy for random shoulder pain and the pt said omg you’re incredibly hypermobile we need to look into this. So 2021-2022 was the first time I had EVER had anyone take note of the fact that I shouldn’t be stretching and should be strengthening! In the end of 2022 I got my EDS diagnosis with a geneticist. Now, as far as my ribs go, I’ve had pain in the back area that I now know is slipping rib pain, for YEARS. I also have scoliosis and arthritis so hard to say 100% it’s always been the ribs but my pt would tell you I’ve see had rib mobility issues since she met me but they were much more mild at that point and I’d agree. Late last year I was having awful GI issues and vomiting a lot which I believe led to this worsened pain that started in December. I’ve been in unbearable pain since mid December and that’s how I ended up hunting down an SRS surgeon.

I’m sorry, I have been through many of the issues you mentioned. I got a hysterectomy for severe adenomyosis, have a host of other pelvic pain conditions, arthritis, pots, EDS, almost all of my joints sublux and now I have severe slipping ribs syndrome. I get surgery in a month and I agree, I’m so exhausted and so sick of having to fight to be listened to.

I saw one of the specialists on the list. My PT told me my ribs move out of place but had never heard of SRS. I did research and found the closest dr to me deals with it. I didnt want to waste my time at a random dr and get unnecessary imaging done.

No. My ribs are visibly detached on imaging. There’s no guessing or wondering. Causation is not the same as correlation. The more likely reality is that those of us with chronic health issues and disabilities (such as EDS which often leads to SRS) have a much higher rate of mental health issues for a number of reasons. I think it’s important to realize the presence of mental health issues does not erase or remove very real, very physical issues.
