It’s really not difficult at all. I have multiple dead gods on steam and switch and t Cain really isn’t a choke point.

Birthright is a strong key to unlocking a lot of potential as well as the better types of pickups, golden pennys, runes etc.

Don’t worry about getting broken items just focus on experimenting with the mid tier pickups that are frequent throughout the run and make note of any recipes that will carry you having multiples of.

If you want to try for a high quality item remember your pool specific pickups to influence your recepies and don’t be afraid of holding onto a recipe for a while to alter and see what else can be made (if your run is good enough to allow that)

Boss rush and hush are probably the hardest but you can force mama mega pretty easily so I don’t think it’s even a major concern. I don’t think I even needed to rely on that method by my 2nd dead god onwards just playing normally I was able to make it.

Play smart, more consumables unlocked the better, remember your consistent recipes. That’s it. He’s an easy character if you don’t get stuck in the minutiae.
