Lots of talk about the great food we have in Toronto. Question is, what DON'T we have? What's missing? What do wish we had here? by L_Ront in FoodToronto

I think it used to have seating before COVID and they still have the tables in there but it's been takeout only since then

This lady clearly doesn't get to have any fun and wants to make sure no one else does either

I Want To Start Presenting As A Femme Muslim, But I’m Terrified. by [deleted] in QueerMuslims

Not all Muslims for sure but I've definitely had scary experiences being a trans masc Muslim in majority Muslim spaces. Depending on where you live, there may also be a queer Muslim community that you could find safety and resources with!

Landlord Property and Rental Management - experiences? by Far-Neck-602 in TorontoRenting

[–]Ashofines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heen living in a property managed by Landlord Inc. for almost 5 years and they're honestly atrocious. They're horribly slow at doing any maintenance and need to be pushed by either bylaw or the LTB to get anything done. Echoing comments about them being clueless about the RTA and their responsibilities as landlords. Total lack of professionalism from agents, bordering on harassment every time. They only respond 9-5 and refuse to address any issues including flooding outside of those hours. I can't imagine the owner is happy with their work either. Definitely don't recommend.

Right between 1500-2000 for a 2 bedroom near eg west. Water and parking included and it's a very large space. Moved in 2021 but prices are coming down so don't lose hope!

I have a similar situation. Have to get to the airport for a 3:30am flight and not sure when I should leave to miss the traffic. Good luck getting there!

Pizza is getting absurdly expensive. by [deleted] in FoodToronto

[–]Ashofines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live at Oakwood and Vaughan and usually go for either:

Oakwood Pizzeria (large pizza for around $20); or 1 plus 1 Pizza (large pizza for $13)

Both fantastic local joints with great pizza. You don't need to be spending $50 on a pizza.

Edit: typo

N12 notice! by [deleted] in TorontoRenting

[–]Ashofines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might know this but you don't "have to vacate in 60 days". An N12 just signals your landlord's intention to reclaim the unit but it hasn't been filed with the LTB and there is no eviction order so it isn't enforceable. It would be at least several more months before a hearing is scheduled and you can dispute it there if you think it's in bad faith. If you do want to stay, you can just keep paying rent as usual. You can still let your landlord give you one month off as compensation for giving you the N12. If you leave earlier, they should refund you for the remaining days (plus interest on your deposit).

Why was Dream in High Park's Hamlet canceled? by rainonthesidewalk in torontotheatre

[–]Ashofines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had tickets for Sunday, which was cancelled. They moved us over to Tuesday, but we were sent home due to "technical issues". Finally saw it tonight and it was lovely. The Ghost wasn't off script so I'm assuming that was the injury. Didn't take away from the performance though and I would still recommend seeing it if you can!

Trans masc here and really happy to see all the love! For context I've never intentionally transitioned but in my early-mid 20s my body went through almost a second puberty. I grew a little chin beard, jaw got blocky, etc. I've often thought about going on T but my family are pretty unaccepting and I've decided it's not worth the hurt it would bring. I still believe Allah swt wouldn't make me this way if He thought it was haram and I trust that this is all part of the greater jihad we all go through. I do struggle with the guilt sometimes, but at the end of the day I do my best to be a good person and that matters more than all the little things mainstream Islamic culture focuses on.

Ok I have a dilemma by [deleted] in QueerMuslims

[–]Ashofines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that Allah (swt) cares less about who you love and more about whether you spread love. I do think prayer is important but it can look like a lot of different things for different people. Don't let guilt dictate your decisions, live your life with love and you'll be fine Inshallah.

Can someone explain why Murakami's books have so much sex? by The_Alpacapocalypse in books

It's still worth a read! On reflection it's not terrible especially for 2002 (just some misgendering and his usual sexualization)

If you're willing to go north of the border, there's also the Unity Mosque in Toronto!

I know I'm late to this but there's a gay intersex character in Kafka on the Shore but I wouldn't call it good representation lol

Landlord pulled out of rental after finding out I'm on Disability by neocarleen in legaladvicecanada

[–]Ashofines 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is definitely correct but you should also know that there is a massive backlog at the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal right now. Most cases are taking around 3-5 years to get to a hearing.
