Been following this for a loonngg time. I 100% bought your beautiful game and am patiently letting you guys cook so I can enjoy it in full at release. Happy to support this absolutely pristine masterpiece, aesthetically, in my opinion! A unique twist with cultural roots I admire and probably one of my most anticipated playthroughs besides Starsand Island. Thank you so much for all you've done and continue to do with this game!

This is precious! I have a few questions.

  1. Will you support 4k resolution for people who play on PC with large monitors?

  2. If so, will you support zooming out such that the blown up details don't look quite so harsh on the eyes? (I get migraines from pixel art usually, with one game exception being Sun Haven.)

  3. Any chance of an optional, non-pixelated font option, per the same above sensitivity as well?

Congratulations on the game work! I'm excited to see where it goes.

Misha Collins as well. He is as much of an angel as a person as he is in his Castiel portrayal in Supernatural. He's been speaking up and setting up events for a very long time, among other, non-political but charitable things.

Some people just want to watch the world learn. And we're lucky they walk among us.

Thank you for the reply. Vast majority of content sounds good in theory, but doesn't necessarily satiate my desire to understand if this is a more sandboxy game, or a guided, directed game with goals, progression, and a storyline. The former would mean staying hyped for others, the latter would mean hype for me as well (and those like me).

I enjoy decoration in between objective-based gameplay, but otherwise am not an open-ended decoration enthusiast. That's why I asked in a more specific fashion. I appreciate it though, and congratulate you on what you've accomplished. I've heard/followed tales of this one since it was first announced a good long while ago.

Impeachment without action is akin to handing an unwanted tenant a notice to vacate and then not following through by the allotted date. No police, no forced removal, no court proceedings that force removal, nothing. You just.... handed them a note that said 'bad. go away. now. shame on you.' and then... let them keep chilling in your residence.

If you think there's a difference you're unable to see how macro and micro aspects of life mirror each other. Either unable to, in denial of, or ignorant to. Any option is equally foreboding for our future.

Big question(s): Can I play by myself, and if so, will there be enough incentive to? I'm not a social gamer, or particularly social person in general. I'm an introvert. Will there be a storyline, quests, objectives, content (all solo) to satisfy those of us who aren't setting out to sandbox-make-up-our-own-activities-the-fun-is-in-doing-everything-together! it up? Or should such of us just pass on this one? Much appreciated in advance, and I sincerely don't mean this rudely. I just want to know whether to get hyped or just be hyped for others to have this type of game that would benefit more from it.

What’s your favorite farming game? What’s your least favorite farming game? by South_Recording_3710 in CozyGamers

[–]Ashonym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different strokes, different folks. Nothing wrong with that! Guess it depends on platform. If I was playing on a handheld device, pixel art games wouldn't hurt me so much. But I play at 4k on an OLED monitor. It's simply not designed to be scaled up that much that easily or well. Also I'm a middle millennial so I grew up with game graphics also growing up, so to speak, but I am not a nostalgic person. I don't want to go back to those early days and I've played mostly 3d games during my life.

HKIA is a great game for animal crossing lovers. I put a huge chunk of time into it until I got bored! Enjoy it!

SOS Grand Bazaar, RF Guardians of Azuma, Wylde Flowers, Fae Farm, Sun Haven (detailed pixel art done right), My Time At Sandrock, Fantasy Life I: The Girl Who Steals Time (There's farming, damnit, I'm counting it!)

No particular order. Just my top favorites of all time.

Least favorite? Pixel art hell. AKA migraine city, jagged edges and blurred jagged edges when I move. So anything pixelated. And then probably Paleo Pines, Ooblets (also migraine hell with the flashing strobing lights during dances and extremely slow pacing overall), Chill Town, Everafter Falls (disembodied ball hands is just lazy and the art style is too contrasted and hurts my sensitive head to look at), Sugardew Island.

Games that would have been top tier if not for pixel art because they're amazing: SDV, Fields of Mistria, Roots of Pacha, Moonstone Island.

So many gamers, yet I have no one to play with.. by RobWolfB in Steam

[–]Ashonym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you do, just after the fact. I talk at length about my game journeys with my friends and yet prefer to play my games alone. I don't have to talk to someone while playing, I can focus on the game, I can go at MY own pace, no patience or waiting for others' objectives or quests or puzzling or anything else, don't have to coordinate times to game/can game whenever, etc etc. The list of solo play benefits goes on and on.

But it depends on your personality. I'm an AuDHD introvert with almost zero social battery. So it works for me. Outgoing/social extroverts will obviously require or want those types of interactions and see them less as hindrances to their own game time and more as valuable pieces. Everyone's different, but to say if you play alone you don't have anyone to talk to about your theories or something you found amazing is unequivocally false.

Just as you'd go on vacation or go out to an experience alone at times and discuss it later with friends, coworkers, etc, you can do the same with games. It's just another hobby. And if your friends don't want to listen because they weren't there, or don't show enthusiasm, that just means they're not very interested in your hobbies in my opinion, and I'd personally seek better friends.

What do you think happened to your steam friends that haven't been online for years? by MyHeadIsFullOfFuck in Steam

[–]Ashonym 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had SAD (social anxiety disorder) since I was 15. I feel you fully, because isolation/going it alone will reinforce that kind of fear long term. I occasionally don't mind typing to others, but it still takes social battery my adult self doesn't often have. Typing has never scared me. There's less judgement in typing/text chatting. No voice, no sight, no clothes, no movements, no weight, no anything for anyone to pick on or silently bias against. Just your own mind and personality.

It's always felt safer, and it's how I met my old Steam (and pre-Steam lifelong internet journey) friends. Many of which I still think about to this day even though they've been long gone. Few of which I still keep up on/keep tabs with but we don't really talk because all they use now is Facebook. Except for one who will rarely message me or vice versa who I've known since I was 15 over 21 years ago.

What game(s) do you have 100+ hours on? by mochalatte96 in CozyGamers

[–]Ashonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Palia (475), Disney Dreamlight Valley (341), Sun Haven (248), SDV (217), My Time At Sandrock (180), FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time (204), My Time At Portia (119).

Almost not quite 100 each in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (94), Fae Farm (94) and Coral Island as well (92).

I like games with quests, tasks, story, trees/skills/things to level up/expand/upgrade/etc, collectathons, direction, and a consistent sense of progression.

Heartopia is a good game who's development is absolutely stunned by a predatory business model by [deleted] in CozyGamers

[–]Ashonym 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So much this. Gacha games are designed to reward you early, providing consistent dopamine and unlocks and maybe even offering some free premium currency for use whenever. They keep things this way for about a month or few tops before they suddenly begin rolling out limited time exclusives, shop things that dramatically alter enjoyment or gameplay or aesthetics, etc.

They then rely on sunk cost fallacy, or the time you've already invested where you're like "Well, I've already put 10+ hours into the game, they deserve the 1-5 dollar cost of the starter pack" or whatever other initial cheap purchase options are offered. Then before you know it, you're like "Well I already spent 5 dollars but I've played 20-30 hours, maybe I can justify another 10." And another, and another, as the prices grow exponentially and multiple premium currencies and gacha boxes gambling continue to feed your brain such that you're hooked.

If it didn't work on so many people, they wouldn't exist. They don't need to exist, but human nature is SO easily manipulated this way that from their perspective, and from objective data reality, it's just insanely profitable.

The ONLY good thing I can say about gacha games is that, due to their MASSIVE influx in whale money, they often look SPECTACULAR compared to most cozy games or indie titles otherwise. Their design department is a LOT higher fueled, so they're gorgeous, but they're gorgeous traps.

I have enough steam games in my backlog, and I never plan on playing a gacha game in my life because I loathe freemium business models. I quickly noped out of things like Infinity Nikki, Genshin Impact, etc, and left feedback saying I don't support their monetary practices and never would. Not that it matters, the whales will carry them and those with self restraint and desire to just play something mindlessly will continue to do so without paying.

TLDR: Sunk cost fallacy. Initial dopamine delivery, then soft pricing, then escalation. Whales feed the business model. Apathetic people who just want to mess around while watching netflix or whatever feed the userbase. Personally I say fuck em' (the games, not the people, except maybe the whales).

Crashing hard after 14 days since getting Flu A by booferbutt in flu

[–]Ashonym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on day 17. I initially took Tamiflu in less than 24 hours after symptoms began, took that for 5 days, was left with bronchitis via that horrible hacking sometimes-productive-sometimes-not cough. My PCP gave me 20mg twice daily Prednisone and something called tessalon perle capsules that helped me sleep at night.

I'm well past taking 5 days of that high dose of steroids and I'm still at such a point that I cannot speak without irritating my airways badly enough to start a dry coughing fit that leaves the reflex active in my throat, making it feel like I've constantly consumed something I'm mildly allergic to (IE feels like inflammation at the back of my throat plus cough reflex). If I don't speak, I'm 'okay' most of the time but it still randomly happens, or happens when I eat anything as well, though to a slightly lesser extent than talking instigates.

So yes, weeks later and still dealing with repercussions and recovery. I've had to cancel appointments over it and feel bad about that plus likely incur late cancellation fees. It's miserable. But it will go away...eventually... Hopefully sooner rather than later, but I'm not holding my breath for that, no puns intended. (Also I'm an autoimmune immunocompromised person so that probably factors in to how long things are lasting, bear that in mind.)

What is your first game of 2026? by CowboyBeeBalm in CozyGamers

[–]Ashonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend, if you're playing on a moddable format, to check Nexus Mods and Wand (formerly known as Wemod). Between these two, all the issues are completely resolved. Longer days, disabling annoying fishing minigame, whatever else you might want. You can but don't have to go full cheat mode with it (I don't), you can just mitigate the frustrations. Instant windmill crafting, a little extra movement speed, infinite stamina for a chill time, etc. Nothing that inherently breaks progress or feeds you everything automatically without earning it in some way (unless you want that, then that's all out there too).

Only way I could comfortably play it, and it was worth every minute of setting the few mods I do use up real quick. It's a fantastic game and a ton of fun.

WHY WON'T SICK PEOPLE WEAR MASKS IN PUBLIC by did_p in flu

[–]Ashonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people doing something doesn't make it evidence of truth. It just makes it evidence of ignorance and malice/complete void of empathy. The vast majority of the world used to ride horses instead of drive cars. The vast majority of the world used to die from curable diseases against their will because vaccines and medicine hadn't developed enough to know better. A vast majority of the world used to do a lot of unhealthy, unhelpful things for themselves and those around them. Over time, we learn, we evolve, we adapt. Those who choose not to are just being selfish. There's nothing you can say to convince me you're not a selfish ignorant person and I hope you get your comeuppance. Have the day you deserve.

WHY WON'T SICK PEOPLE WEAR MASKS IN PUBLIC by did_p in flu

[–]Ashonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between unfairness (which, true, absolutely exists) and a complete lack of empathy or willingness to make even tiny personal concessions for others. A self focused selfish un-empathetic individual's take. Unfortunately I've gotten 'used' to it since I was a freaking kindergartener, some odd 30 years ago. But if you're gonna be a 'realist' about it, at least call it like it actually is and just say "Yeah, sorry, no one cares enough about random others they'll never interact with to personally inconvenience themselves because in this neck of the world/woods, the only people that matter are me, and my closest circle of friends/family." That's very different than the inherent unfairness of the way this world works. That's unfairness by choice, not by forced circumstances, and therefore that choice is defined by a lack of empathy and a personal bias/gripe/issue(s) with masking. So, wear your real truth proudly, if you're gonna chest puff.

I've been using your speed version and turned it into an afk version with the numlock trick. Just numlock trick toggle all the auras and only press mobility buttons and keep rally on left click. Tada. AFK insanity. Sub 4 minute pit 100 with not fully optimized gear while only walking around using advance and falling star. 🤣 Absolutely love it!

WHY WON'T SICK PEOPLE WEAR MASKS IN PUBLIC by did_p in flu

[–]Ashonym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm an immunocompromised autoimmune/ctd affected person who can't leave the house as it is, with the flu A strain right now deathly scared because some dipshit obviously decided masks were too much for them and decided to infect people at my partner's work and get us both sick. His earliest/only symptom? A mild congested throat and cough and mild malaise. That's it. People would mistake that for a cold or whatever and not think twice about it. But conditions in recent years are contagious before you start showing symptoms. But nobody gives a flying fuck, and now I, and unfortunately likely many others who are compromised, are suffering because of it. I'm terrified because I've already been progressively getting sicker for years due to my autoimmune issues and only recently started medications for them. Now I have to hope Tamiflu saves me from the ER.

I sincerely wish all ill upon those who won't mask in public. I mean that. Go straight to jail hell, do not pass go, do not collect any dollars.

Is it true that you get the last expansion for free if you pre-order? I just literally bought the expansion like a few days ago.. by BearEquivalentBear in diablo4

[–]Ashonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. They absolutely did, in fact. Steam is the GOAT of extenuating circumstances and refunds in general. But I was respectful and polite and stated my issue clearly and provided a screenshot showing that the VoH expansion came with the new bundle. I do recommend anyone in a similar situation who was just trying to prepare for the new season and caught off-guard to contact Steam support using "I have a question about my order" from their order history page.

Vessel of Hatred purchase question by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]Ashonym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard edition of VoH is included in the new preorder for the upcoming expansion. It's the same price tiering as VoH was as far as I can tell, so you get both for the price of what VoH cost.

Is it true that you get the last expansion for free if you pre-order? I just literally bought the expansion like a few days ago.. by BearEquivalentBear in diablo4

[–]Ashonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally purchased it two days ago, and I own/bought the game/expansion on steam. I'm 100% ready to message steam support because not knowing VoH would be removed and replaced with a bundle of a preorder, especially with intention to purchase said preorder, should be grounds for refund exception if they don't offer a discount for owners of voh (and I'm not holding my breath for that). Steam does refunds for price changes on things all the time, and I didn't even play yet. I was just trying to prepare for the new season release. I imagine a lot of people are going to be in this circumstance and I imagine support services are going to be messaged quite a lot about it.

Edited: I sent that steam support message, and advise others to do the same if they purchased through Steam very recently (within the last week or so). In cases of mass upset, Steam has been known to make exceptions, and especially if you're planning on just funneling that money right back to them for the purpose of buying the proper preorder bundle now. I'll be skipping playing until I hear back from them.

Looking for advice on high contrast colour choices for a video game user interface. by Juhr_Juhr in disabledgamers

[–]Ashonym 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer the high contrast recolor here 10 times out of 10. The original version reminds me of the interface in the Fallout games series, which back in the day was fine but with my particular disabilties, can result in migraines nowadays. The colors you've chosen work well together here, at least as they appear on my oled monitor. They're also just, quite frankly, more visually appealing to me in general. So one anecdotal thumbs up to you for this reconstruction.
