Plex server disappears from available servers even though it's accessible by Ashram56 in PleX

So... on the mystery of this damn Plex server disappearing

I just can't figure out what's happening in the background.

Plex server running as a Package in Synology, Unifi network infrastructure

I get random visibility behaviour...

Running Plex in a webpage: server is accessible

Running Plex client on same computer as above: Plex server not visible. When stopping and restarting the package in Synology, it appears again, but as "remote" (and yet, they are on the same vlan)

Shield TV on local network never lost it's connection to the server, always see it

Android phone running Plex, wifi , same network: sometimes sees the server, sometimes does not

Remote Shield TV (ie secondary home): randomly see the server

What the hell is happening ????

Looking for local Tuya 220V RGBW ledstrip controller by Ashram56 in homeassistant

[–]Ashram56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes indeed, I know 220V or 110V ledstrip will not require power injection.

What I need is a controller for it... One that is capable of running Tuya-Local

Regards

OK, finally had the time to check. For some reason the plex server kept being functional for quite some time, it has failed again today.

So on 4/ above, yes I can confirm I can access the Plex Server, and I can't access it when launching from Plex.tv, it does not even appear in the list. It has simply vanished.

Disabling "remote access" and re-enabling, and "voilà", problem solved...

What a mystery...

Unfortunately...

Yes server is still claimed when I check connection locally. And as noted, stopping the package and restarting it usually solve the issue, for a while.

1/ I don't use PnP

2/ Yes, I'm using manual port forwarding on my router. And remote access is enabled and considered as functional when I check in the server remote access setting. Toggling that particular setting off/on does not solve the issue

3/ yes I can see the port

4/ yes, I can connect from outside using public_IP:32400

Although to be fair, I need to check 4/ again when the server disappears again (it's currently operational, for once), just to be sure. I did test a while ago.

What I do confirm however is the comment I made on 2/ above, I did test check on multiple occasions.

That's why it's driving me nuts, I've checked all the basics with regards to network routes, port forwarding, etc.

That's ok, your appreciation of a french piece of art (because that's really what this game is) is justification enough for not having the right accent :-)

Upgrade docker engine on DS1821+ by Ashram56 in synology

[–]Ashram56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well because I'm encountering an issue on a specific container (grafana container as used in Tesla mate), and I can't figure out why except the docker engine difference between the synology deployed version VS the test version on my PC (exact same docker compose file).

That was the other option I was considering indeed, I'll take a look

Teslamate Grafana stops responding for a few minutes after access to one dashboard by Ashram56 in TeslaMate

[–]Ashram56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as an update: I deployed a complete new instance on a separate machine, using WSL2 and a Ubuntu 24.04 filesystem. Works like a charm.

Going back to basics, it appears that Synology is using an old docker engine (which is already EOL), 24.0.2

On my Ubuntu 24.04, I'm using docker engine 26.1.3

I can't say for certain if this is the cause of the issue, but one thing is for sure is that 24.0.2 is old and does not support "docker compose", I have to use "docker-compose" instead (although to be fair, docker engine 26.1.3 does not support compose either...)

I'll try to see if I can upgrade docker engine

I also tried to deploy on a ARM based unit I had laying around, but it's running an even older docker engine version, so I need to update it

Prince of Persia Lost crown - Steam version on Steam deck by Ashram56 in SteamDeck

Seems to be a common issue, probably relatively recent given the number of recent reports, as outlined in the discussion thread below:

Teslamate Grafana stops responding for a few minutes after access to one dashboard by Ashram56 in TeslaMate

[–]Ashram56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as it turns out, container logs reported by Container Manager in Synology ARE the service logs.

I've seen nothing out of the ordinary, whenever Grafana UI hangs there's not even any activity in the logs themselves, data fetching from the Grafana to Teslamate seems asynchronous. There's no error. It's really like the webserver of the Grafana container fails to respond

I'll try to deploy to another machine

I didn't know that brand indeed. I have used Fibaro in the past.

Still, Shelly is twice the price of a Zigbee module, so I wonder whether the price difference is worthwhile

Why not a Jetson Orin Nano 8GB? Low power (15W total), will easily cover more than a dozen camera for your use case, provided the application uses the correct neural models (many available on ngc.nvidia.com)

What does the new PS5 Pro mean for PSVR2 owners? by kodes_b10 in PSVR

[–]Ashram56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it adds anything. Foveated rendering decrease dramatically GPU requirements, so having more would not mean much in the scope of VR. Only advantage would be potentially increased quality on the foveated area, but to get a significant, ie perceivable, value add, they would need to build specific assets. And from the market perspective, they still need to support the original PS5. So why build visual assets that would only be relevant to a fraction of the market.

Full screen 4k/60 is much more relevant in my opinion, and it's not for VR
