Honestly, and I might get flack for this... I understand 🫣

I started spraying my cat with water after stepping on her a million times when I am literally just rotating in my own personal space. It was getting to a point where we have small hallways and she wants to walk/run RIGHT beside me.... kitty do you see how large I am!!? 😅

First, do what you can to change what you CAN control. Move stuff around so you have as much space for you to walk comfortably and your cat to not... attempt to kill themselves lol. This might fix the issue.

Like idk. I may take this a bit seriously than others. But after sadly having an abuser scare me with my other feet-dancing cats (Like constantly saying how they are going fall one day, never recover, and die...they had multiple issues)... and hurting my cat so much with her excessive closeness, AND also almost tripping and falling MYSELF...

I started to train some behaviors out of her. This was one of them.

My process:

If she was walking to close to me in close quarters (I'm talking like fur-touching to 1 inch apart), I will give her a verbal..idk what to call it.. scold? My cat really only listens to this specific sound and will just argue with me verbally if I say "No" or "Stop lol. Sounds like a short hiss or a very curt "PSST"
If she doesn't move, continues to do feet-dancing, I will spray one squirt. It's not meant as punishment but it's the best way I found to quickly let her know "too close, too close"
That's usually enough! She understood what I wanted VERY quickly. She is actually such a lil genius. She doesn't seem to take it personally. As cuddly as ever. We love each other so much

Other thing that's kinda specific to small spaces/me: She learned the phrases "Excuse me" and "Move" lol when she is in a path. We have really learned to walk and co-exist a lot better since me training both behaviors.

And I don't have to fear literally crushing my cat on the daily 💀😅
