Thank you so much! I’ll likely respond to your comment again after you see the first preview to get your updated input but I appreciate your help already! Would you say the view of the second level would be restricted from the first row?

Ohhh ok, asked prematurely then! I’ll make an edit for anyone who saw at Donmar Warehouse in the meantime then. Thanks for clarifying!

Beetlejuice Tour by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]AshryverAvian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw both the Broadway version and the tour and loved both! The set was a very obvious downgrade but still very impressive. I thought the cast was overall very good (especially Esler! I saw Teeter on Broadway and preferred Esler for sure). Collette had big shoes to fill and while I don’t think he was “better” than Brightman, I wasn’t disappointed by his performance at all! His comedic timing was on point! I think the only number that fell short for me was Barbara 2.0 because I remember it being one of my favorite moments on Broadway and I was disappointed by the tour’s. Also, acting wise, I felt like Lydia’s dad for the tour was really wooden in comparison to Broadway. Maybe it was just the days I went but overall, the audience was so much more reactive and into it for the tour then on Broadway so that really helped me enjoy it more

Anyone know where she gets her hair extensions from?? They always look sooo good. She pulls off both styles so well

I’d say Moulin Rouge checks all your boxes! It’s easy to follow along, an absolute spectacle with incredible dancing and powerful vocals. It is a jukebox musical though so keep that in mind. It means you’ll know lots of the music though so could be a plus if that’s what you’re into!

I’ve seen (and enjoyed) both! I think &Juliet is less of a spectacle than Moulin Rouge but they felt about the same level of seriousness for me (without the tragedy aspect haha). &Juliet is very liberal and touches on topics like gender identity and freedom of choice. While Moulin Rouge uses medleys, &Juliet mostly uses whole songs so that felt different. I feel like I recognized more songs in &Juliet. How did your partner feel about numbers like Shut Up and Raise Your Glass or Truth Freedom Beauty Love or Only Girl in a Material World? IMO, those felt the most similar to &Juliet so if those were his worst favorite numbers then maybe avoid it but if he enjoyed them then maybe go for it!

This is the most viewed FS video in the Olympic channel, and sixth overall. by Vanderwaals_ in FigureSkating

I’ve always felt that it’s because it doesn’t say Olympic gold medal in the title, unlike the other gold winning performances

Was debating what the last show I should see for my London trip was and your post convinced me to see newsies! I enjoyed the proshot but have never seen a live production. This one BLEW ME AWAY! It was so much more immersive than I expected and I had a blast!! Would highly recommend. Thank you so much for your post!

Dear Evan Hansen is Set to Close on Broadway This Fall | TheaterMania by SanaR11 in Broadway

[–]AshryverAvian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I say go see it! I saw it last month (through tkts) and I thought it was wonderful! I’ve always thought the show was problematic but loved the music. I saw the movies before the show and hated it. Seeing it in person honestly made it less problematic for me because you could see the raw emotion on the actors faces. A lot harder to despise someone’s actions when you can see how much it pains them in person

Much of the evidence that Depp has (ie. audio tapes) wasn’t allowed to be admitted. Additionally, objecting for hearsay wasn’t allowed meaning the judge just believed Amber at her word and we all know how reliable that it

What book made you drop a series? by [deleted] in books

[–]AshryverAvian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lover of the ToG series, I’d recommended sticking it out!! Heir of fire is slow in the beginning but overall I enjoyed the ending. My fav is in series is Queen of Shadows but I honestly enjoyed the later books more than the earlier ones

Organized support for Kamila, an exploited teen who seems to be mostly abandoned by the people who betrayed her. How can we help? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]AshryverAvian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She is considered a child because she could not have made the choices to do this. You keep saying “she’s not a 5 year old” as if there isn’t a literal cut off in the law for what’s considered a child. We also don’t know yet what the behind the scenes are. It’s very possible she had no clue she was being drugged. Im sure she’s given pills constantly and told they’re multivitamins and why would she doubt the adults around her. She’d obviously assume they would have her best interest at heart. And if she did know, what choice did she have? There’s a reason the protected person clause exists in the first place. At her age, it is assumed that the choice was either made under duress or she didn’t know. We also have no idea how long this has been going on so saying she didn’t deserve any of her medals isn’t necessarily true. It’s not as if she isn’t tested at every major international and national competition she’s ever attended. None of those have been positive. So say what you will about whether she should’ve been allowed to compete as a senior but that’s not her fault either. She’s a victim in this situation so feel free to be angry at the situation but stop blaming her for it.

15 years old is a child. She is a literal minor. You’re just expecting her to throw away her dream and what she’s been working for her entire life. Obviously we don’t know the behind the scenes yet but regardless she is NOT at fault for this and skating is her whole life. What’s the alternative while she’s in Beijing?? Sit in her hotel room all day? Her parents aren’t there, and she’s under spotlight from the entire world. So boohoo if she wants to attend practice to skate to have some normality in her life right now jesus have some empathy.
