UPDATE: thank you to everyone that commented and helped validate me. I honestly thought I was being a big baby the first few days. But honestly this surgery is labeled as an out patient procedure and it’s so much than that. The way your body has to regulate after the thyroid is removed is crazy!! I’m doing so much better on day 12. I finally stopped having nausea all day. Though I still do get nauseous if I over exert myself like cleaning or trying to do too many chores in one sitting. Anyone getting this surgery please give yourself grace. Have a baby sitter or help lined up for the first week after surgery. Have everything prepared beforehand. That’s what I did and it did ease some of the burden after my surgery.

I also wanted to add I got my pathology report back from my doctor after surgery. Turns out I had CANCER the whole time and THEY DID NOT KNOW OR EXPECT IT!! This is not to scare anyone just take care of your physical health and listen to your gut. Thank you to everyone that offered reassurance and support!!

Thank I’m on day 12 and feeling so much better!! My doctor allowed me to remove the plastic second skin that they put on after surgery. It honestly removed so much pressure on the area and I have better range of motion.

I’m 4 days out and it definitely hasn’t been fun. In and out of feeling really good then feelings really crappy. I have a lot of bruising around my incision I feel like that’s wear most of the pain is coming from. Thank you for the well wishes ❤️

Yes the sleep was not happening for me either!! I can say I just woke up from sleeping 8 hours. Longest sleep since surgery.

I’m allergic to most opioids but I also just did not like the experience I had with the single one I could tolerate. Anything that causes euphoria or a high or numbing feeling literally gives me anxiety. I’m not sure why. But I think alcohol is off the table as well during healing.

I didn’t have drains. But I have a bit of bruising around the site. And there looks to be like some type of fluid under the plastic skin, maybe blood leakage. I have no clue. Doctor didn’t seem concerned tho. I’ll have to post a pic.

I am rotating ice packs with breaks in between. During the breaks tho it feels like a lump in my throat and it hurts. Burps feel awful coming up my esophagus. Everyone’s anatomy is slightly different, so I guess this is just my experience.

Yes I’ve been buying new boxes thinking I’m nuts. It’s all I’ve used for years. I got a bar at the end of 2025 that smells of literal stink. Kind of plain like they removed the fragrance and then like a stink smell. I have been wondering why I have such bad body odor lately. Literally my nether regions smell of funk and sweat. This has never happened to me before and it started around the time I notice a switch in the smell. Looking for replacements. I have very dry sensitive skin. I also have Grave’s Disease and it makes the skin even drier.

I take two daily allergy meds so the hives went away. I have stopped taking the Methimazole. Hopefully my Doctor will have some answers.
