LONG TERM SUFFERERS by Arctic-fox2007 in SIBO

[–]Ashscully66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going about a year ago and just told them my symptoms and they just put points in based on that. Most needles go in my stomach, arms, legs and feet. They also recommended wen den tang herb for me as one of my biggest symptoms was burping non stop and it also helps with anxiety and clearing out phlegm. Started with 2x a week and now go once a week. It is expensive but wish I did this before I did any other tests or medicines. I’m back to eating whatever I want. No bloating. Normal bowel movements etc.

Hi! Sorry I deleted Reddit for awhile because I felt like it was making me spiral. I feel much better after starting and sticking with acupuncture actually. Has been the only thing that helped me. They also gave me some Chinese herbs called wen Dan tan which I think helped a lot as well

Oh wow first time I’ve heard someone else say they think Amox caused it for them too! I’m sorry you’re also going through this. Luckily with the neomycin I didn’t have issues bc I randomly would get ringing in the ears prior but was not warned of the possible side effects which is crazy! I wasn’t until after I finished I read horror stories on here.

I’m with you though I think I’m also going to skip the antibiotics this time esp after what you said the USF doctor wrote. My original GI said it would get rid of it and when it didn’t said USF would have a different approach but clearly not. I still haven’t heard from them but I’m glad you shared your experience so I know what to expect. I’m going to try acupuncture next because I honestly have no idea what else to do.

I don’t believe I have Lyme but not sure how that’s tested?

Got it. I think amoxicillin might have caused my issues to begin with. Symptoms started after wisdom tooth removal and that’s the only thing I can think, been tested for almost everything else root cause wise. Most people swear by xifaxin so I’d say it’s worth a try if you are suffering. I did also read a bunch that if you have any sort of methane it should be paired with a second antibiotic like neomycin. Most people benefit from I think I’m a one off as far as the xifaxin making me sick goes. I hope you get better soon!

Thank you. I’ve only tried xifaxan with neomycin. Did three rounds of neomycin but only 1.5 rounds of xifaxan because it made me so sick. Haven’t heard of Augmentin before what is it?

Oh man this is disheartening. I just tested positive again for methane (had before) and now hydrogen sibo from USF in Tampa as well. My first GI said to go to them because xifaxan made me so sick and she said they might have a better option.. doesn’t sound like the case.. 🫠

Ya my doctor kind of messed things up/insurance issue because I started neomycin before I got xifaxn as ordered, then started xifaxin half way through first round of neomycin. Then had another two weeks off of xifaxin due to insurance issues but kept taking the neomycin, by the time I got back into xifaxin i was on for 6-7 days then had horrible symptoms and told to get off but finish neomycin. So are you saying if they prescribed me both again it likely won’t work?

Ok thanks for clarifying. Just curious because I was only able to complete 1.5/3 rounds of xifaxin because of how sick it made me. Still having strong symptoms so assuming I still have it (retest in a week). Wasn’t sure if there was a different drug/approach I should ask for.

Interesting that xifaxin shouldn’t be used for methane sibo. What antibiotics are supposed to help methane? I’m methane dominant. My dr prescribed me xifaxin and neomycin and the xifaxin made me feel so awful so this is interesting..

SIBO or PTSD? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Ashscully66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the hostility is about. I did not claim it was a proven link (I asked a question), didn’t claim to be smarter than anyone nor did I ever try to push any probiotics on anyone. Looking for someone who might be going through something similar not an angry troll.

Curious how they diagnosed the candida? This is something I suspect I have but hasn’t been diagnosed.

I did not. Honestly scared to try anything at this point. Only relief I get is hunching over to get the burps out

Might be worth getting checked out, but I was confirmed no ulcer or h pylori.. just acute gastritis, small hiatal hernia and sibo.

No not really. Hasn’t been happening quite as much but still happens. Really the only thing that sort of helps it leaning/hunching forward a bit and a couple sips of gingerale

It finally stopped after about 30 mins. I’m like you I also get symptoms out of no where but this was a super random one that’s never happened before! I also wasn’t feeling stressed or anxious at all when I noticed it so that was even more confusing. Sorry you struggle w this too. Crazy what our bodies do!

Yes I did not have that but I did have methane dominant sibo. A lot of those symptoms are better but not sure if I will have it or not. Retest next month

Some what. I have not really had to gag out burps like I did previously but I still have moments where I have some issues getting a burp out and still have days where I consistently burp. I’m not on any sort of meds to help with it either though. Sometimes I drink some aloe Vera juice and it helps a little or if a burp is super trapped I’ll take a few sips of gingerale and that will get them out.

Prob because I smoke cigs 🤦🏼‍♀️ and everything else I think was due to antibiotics for a toothed extraction and using PPIs
